Interview
These are notes I took in conversation with Rajni Shah. I have written them up in a document so you can try and understand them too, but it is not verbatim, and it feels wrong to try and turn this into an interview where I paraphrase what she said - it is just an outline of what we talked about. Accessibility
on the surface can seem righteous/unsexy but a basic important aspect

What was the artist trying to communicate not more relevant than what I got out of it as audience member. Glorious Intervention in public spaces meant that participants could be anyone, not just those looking for it Audience members had their own roles it would not have been helpful if they knew the bigger picture, they function as a vital part of process Planning during improvisation, giving authorial control to strangers, a clash of minds not one to plow through vision, hearing other perspectives keeps a constant change. Listening A mountain at one side friendship, round the other theatre making. Experiments in listening is trying to find the space in between friendship (just a conversation) and theatre-making (already a goal)at the top of the mountain Public sharings confronting space no pressure because with performative dialogue entertainment value is not the first priority Honesty, not niceness Invitation Being rigorously clear Framework of we think this is important Making serious work Selfishness can be necessary self-indulgence as part of a process, healthy, can lead to other things. Can be put in front of audience but frame work must be considered. Action learning a method of selfish listening keep talking about yourself until you feel done the more selfish the better everybody gains a better understanding through listening/honesty. The job of other is purely to listen nobody is trying to be accommodating
Honesty we are the best people to solve our own problems.
