Community Involvement

I have been the chair person for the P.S.S.C (Parent School Support Committee) for the last
three years. We are an advisory committee to the school in terms of improvement plan,
governance and fund spending.
One year prior to being the chair person of the P.S.S.C I sat on the board as an adviser.
I am heavily involved in the Home and School Committee of my children's school. Our school
is a small rural school and it relies greatly on the fund raising we do as a Home and School in
order to function to its fullest capacity. The breakfast and hot lunch program is fully funded
through our fund raising and volunteers. This includes the cost of food and the cafeteria
worker's wages. This is a continuous project.
For the past five years I have been involved with my church and the youth groups that it
supports. I have been responsible for our V action Bible School for the past four years by
organizing and writing the lessons and crafts, setting up our teaching space and delivering the
lessons. This school last for a full week in July and we usually have around twenty students
registered ranging from ages 3-15.
Tuesday night Bible club-I run a Bible club along with another girl from September-May. We
meet every Tuesday night to teach Biblical themed classes, crafts and activities. There is usually
12-15 children in attendance each week. I choose our theme in August, prepare the lessons and
crafts and then Tanya helps me to deliver the lesson and care for the children.
Christmas/Easter show- Our Bible club prepares and participates in varying shows, concerts,
plays and readings prepared and practiced with the children, myself and Tanya. These shows go
beyond our regularly scheduled club and are performed at the community hall, in church and at
the senior's care home.
I often act as emcee for community events such as community breakfasts, ball tournaments,
craft fairs, farmers markets and local pagents.
