Why do they speak French there??
• A century or two after the discovery of America by
Christopher Columbus, people were stimulated and
started colonizing faraway lands and hostile areas. So,
the French mainly explored Africa and colonized a lot of
current countries. Those territories lived under the
French commandment and the French culture settled
little by little even if people didn't actually like the idea of
changing their culture and their religion.
• After their independence, those countries still kept the
language they adopted when the French were there.
That's why French is commonly spoken in Africa.
