Religion
• The Sunnis believe that Muhammad had no rightful heir and that a religious leader
should be elected through a vote among the Islamic community's people
• Sunni believe in one god (Tawhid), they also believe in angels (malaikah) who are
messengers for Tawhid, they also have holy books, like the kutub, and the Qur’an,
which is Tawhid’s direct and unchanging word, revealed to the profit Muhammad,
they believe in a day of judgment and the afterlife, that life is a test, and either you
go to Paradise or Hell.
Geography

• Djibouti is found on the horn of Africa, it has a


population of 1 million people

• The landscape of Djibouti is varied and extreme,
ranging from rugged mountains in the north to a
series of low desert plains separated by parallel
plateaus in the west and south. Its highest peak
is Mount Moussa at 2,028 meters

nation team, the Djibouti National Football team,
and a club called the Djibouti Premier League.
• they played in the qualifying rounds of the African
Cup of Nations and the FIFA World Cup in the year
2000.

• Djibouti uses its own currency, called the
Djiboutian Franc, 1 Djiboutian Franc is worth

Food

• The national dish, called Skoudekharis,


is a one pot dish of rice and includes
generous portions of lamb.
• It is Commonly prepared during the
Islamic holiday of Eid al-Adha, it is
made of rice, lamb and ayurvedic spices
such as cardamom. It can also go well
with chicken, beef or fish.
Arts and Literature
Balho

• A lot of the art in Djibouti has been influenced


by Somali, Afar, French, Arab, and Ottoman
arts and cultures. Some of the oldest pieces of
art are in the form of rock drawings, especially
near the town of Balho.
Customs and traditions

• Djibouti celebrates their independence day from the French on the 27 th of June.
They celebrate their Islamic new year on the 30 th of July. They have a feast of
Sacrifice on the 9 th of July, and they have Labour day on the first of May. They
celebrate the birth of Muhammad on the 9 th of October and the Night of
ascension on the first of March

Arabs (6.675% djibouti arabs
[indigenous], 4.525% yemenis, 4.4%
omanis) and 5% others. The Somali
clan component is mainly composed
of the Issa clan (Dir), followed by
the Gadabuursi and the Isaaq.
