Candidates demonstrate continual growth in knowledge and skills of current and emerging technologies and apply them to improve personal productivity and professional practice. (PSC 6.1/ISTE 6a, 6b) Reflection During this field experience, I attended iSummit located at The Westmister School in Atlanta. This was a large conference led by technology leaders from across the country. Educators and technology leaders from around the southeastern United States attended this conference. Standard 6.1 states that candidates demonstrate continual growth in knowledge and skills of current and emerging technologies and apply them to improve personal productivity and professional practice. Attending this conference was a great way to show continual growth as a technology leader, as it is important to stay at the forefront of current and innovative ways to implement technology within your school. To learn about current and emerging technologies, I attended various sessions on flipped classrooms, SAMR model, learning with IPADS, and developing a technology integration department at your school. Attending each of these sessions was inspiring and reminded me just how encouraging it is to share out the different ways you are using technology to improve your teaching. Each session was packed with strategies on how to apply these technologies to improve personal productivity and professional practice. Through this experience, I most enjoyed learning from both local and professional leaders in EdTech. It taught me the importance of sharing out what you are doing with other colleagues whether at a conference, blog, Twitter. As our field is rapidly changing, it is important to share and collaborate with other educators. This experience relates directly to school improvement, faculty development, and student learning as it promoted various strategies, methods, and programs that impacted all members of the educational community. The impact can be measured in various ways depending on the implemented strategy or program.
