Hse Control Measure
Control measures are actions that can be applied to decrease the potential of exposure
to the hazard, or the control measure could be to get rid the hazard or to reduce the possible
of the risk of the exposure to that hazard being realised. A simple control measure would be
the secure guarding of moving parts of machinery eliminating the potential for contact. When
we look at control measures we often refer to the hierarchy of control measures.
One purpose of control measure identification and assessment is to help the operator
understand how the risks to health and safety associated with potential major incidents are
managed. Hazard should be eliminated whenever it is possible. If not possible, it should be
controlled. Control means reducing the hazard to a stage that doesnt risk the safety of any
worker.
