Highlights of The Week: March 15 - 19, 2010

During the week of March 15-19, students focused on reading comprehension strategies for an upcoming test, started a new unit on measurement in math, completed writing and illustrating narrative stories in language arts, studied the early settlement of the United States and Lewis and Clark's journey in social studies, and made a star clock and planted prairie seeds in science. Highlights of the Week: March 15 – 19, 2010

Reading: We are continuing to emphasize comprehension strategies in


preparation for the Minnesota State Comprehensive Assessment Test in Reading
to be given in April.

Math: We started a new unit on measurement.

Language Arts: The students completed writing and illustrating their narrative
stories.

Social: The students are studying the early settlement of the United States.
The students followed the journeys of Lewis and Clark.

Science: The students made a star clock to view the constellations at various
times in the night sky.

The students planted native prairie seeds at the Prairie Wetlands on


Wednesday. Thank you to the parent volunteers who assisted with the
activities. If you have not had the opportunity to volunteer for our field trips
to the PWLC, we have a field trip in April and May. The Prairie Wetlands is
hosting Marsh Madness on Saturday, March 27 from 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Important Dates:

Friday, March 19: End of the third quarter.


Monday, March 22: No school due to teacher workday and inservice.
Tuesday, March 23: March Madness Activity Calendar due for the week of
March 14 - 20.
Monday, March 29: Progress reports sent home.
