living requires not only a reproductive dimension, but also a productive one, where

we transcend ordinary routines and cycles either deliberately or through necessity.

The productive dimension allows us to organize and come to terms with the diff erent,
contradictory and often unforeseeable demands, disruptions and challenges we
are confronted with in the various arenas of our daily life. Therefore, the conduct
of everyday life also always involves a dimension of transcendence and extra-ordinary
experience and activity , situations in everyday living where we enter unknown territory,
engage in serious challenges and struggles, experience exceptional moments of
happiness, joy or insight (or the opposite) in which we may sometimes even have
the impression that these extra-ordinary moments are precisely where life really
happens.
