Description of Activities and Setting

1. Engage

I will begin the lesson with a hands on activity of different physical properties.
I will have all the students close their eyes and pass around a large cotton ball.
I will engage them by having them describe what they feel until someone
figures it out what the item is. This will get them excited for the next activity
we will do as a class.

2. Explore

We will do another hands on activity of different physical properties. In

several brown paper bags I will have objects with different physical properties
for the students to touch in the bag without looking. (clay, wood, cloth, paper)
They will have to guess what they think that the object is based on the
physical properties of the object. They will explain the physical property
while theyre feeling the items. Students will continue to do this until they
have felt all of the objects. I will ask them open-ended questions to make sure
they understand the concept we are learning. (CFU)

3. Explain

Students will then get into groups by their table and have a discussion with
their peers about physical properties and what they think makes things feel
different from one another. Then I will allow some of the students to share
their thoughts about different physical properties with the entire class and
explain why they think that.

4. Elaborate

I will ask the students open-ended questions about physical properties and the
biggest differences that they noticed about the items we had today. (CFU) If
there is anything that they havent comprehended so far I will elaborate on it
so they are able to gain a full understanding of todays topic.

all objectives/skills

6. Assessment Results of
all objectives/skills

Through the activities we did during class I will be able to see that each
student comprehended what was learned through the lesson. Students will be
given a worksheet with 5 different objects they will have to match them with
the correct physical property. The worksheet will have 5 questions and student
must get 4 out of 5 in order to show a proficient amount of understanding.
