Learning goals
Students will consider personal relationships. They will describe different kinds of
relationships, evaluate their own, and explore the differences between positive and
negative personal relationships. They will be able to indicate their feelings considering
different relationships and express likes/dislikes of activities they like to do with people
close to them. Finally, they will consider social networks and how prevalent they are in
the U.S. and in France. They will be able to explain the effects of social networks on an
individuals life, specifically in terms of personal relationships. Students will be split
into teams to debate for/against social networks.

Students will read short authentic texts (e.g. self-help articles from magazines) about
personal relationships in Francophone countries. Students will answer questions about these

texts to check for understanding. They will watch several video clips and state the main
idea of the clips in French.
Students will discuss with partners/in groups their like/dislikes of activities with people

Students will have a debate and present their side of it: for or against social networks.
