Makeup Geek is changing the game with new foiled shadows
These are the newest item- Foiled Eyeshadows! The claim here
is that these will apply as if you applied them with a wet brushmeaning richly pigmented, metallic, and shiny- but when using
them dry, and without having to pack the colors on.
There are ten shades total, ranging from lighter shades like a soft
gold and peach, to deeper, rich shades like a beautiful burgundy
and deep teal.
These all applied amazingly- the texture is on the soft side, but the
pigmentation is ultra rich and bendable. I barely had to swatch
these to get amazing, opaque color.

What you need to know about eye brushes

Large Shadow Brush: Use it to quickly sweep shadow across the lid or for dusting a light
color under the eyebrow as a highlight.
Precision Shadow Brush: The go-to tool for eyelid color application. I can pack on the
color where needed for both the intensity I want and the longevity I need, notes Almodovar.
Blending Shadow Brush: This brush diffuses and blends colors seamlessly. Its what Almodovar likes to use to soften shadow in the crease. It can also be used to apply lid
color for a more sheer finish.
Blending Tip Brush: This brush can be used to smudge pencil eyeliner. Almodovar also
uses it to smoke out the eye by applying a dark powder shadow close to the lash line.
Angled Liner Brush: The angle of this brush is particularly great for creating winged
eyeliner and tightlining the water line.

How to perfect winged liner in a few, easy steps

Like red lipstick, winged eyelineralso known as the cat eyeis a classic look in the makeup world. Its simple, chic and
adds just the right amount of glamour without being too much. However, without knowing the proper techniques, the task
of drawing a cat eye (and applying eyeliner in general) can be a bit difficult for those of us who happen to lack a steady
hand. If you've sacrificed a great deal of liquid eyeliner tubes and an even greater number of cotton swabs and tissues in
attempts to nail the elusive cat eye look, you're not alone. That's exactly why were here to help, thanks to a few hassle- and
mistake-free tips that will help you create the fiercest winged look imaginable.

Courtesy Photo
First, the key to a great set of cat eyes comes down to the eyeliner. While we know that liquid, gel and cream eyeliners can
be intimidating to think about, learning how to use them are stepping stones to helping you master the technique.
If youre having trouble with the idea of switching from a pencil straight to liquid, start off with a felt tip liquid eyeliner like
the Milani Eye Tech Perfection Liquid Eyeliner ($8.49). The tube has an unusual, curvy shape, but thats actually the beauty of
it. The L-shaped tool is designed to fit perfectly into your hand, making you feel like you have more control over the eyeliner
itself and the way you apply it.
And if you feel more comfortable using a gel or cream eyeliner, just make sure you have an angled eyeliner brush on hand.
We recommend using something inexpensive and easy for beginners to adjust to, like Wet N Wild's Mega Eyes Crme Eyeliner ($3.99). Not only is this liner totally affordable, it also lasts all day so you wont have to worry about smudging! Better
yet, this eyeliner can be found at any drugstore.
Ultimately, the shape of your wing is all up to you, but paying attention to your eye shape can help if you can't decide. Some
prefer a triangular-shaped wing, while others are more comfortable wearing a curvy wing, shaped a bit like a J. Curvy wings
work better for those with smaller eyes, as the curve works to elongate your lash line and make your eyes appear bigger. If
you have bigger eyes, opt for a triangular shape instead.
Of course, keep in mind that these rules aren't at all mandatory. These suggestions are simply intended to get you started
only you'll know the shape you love to rock most!

Here it finally is!The Cool Girl's Guide to Fall

We've come to expect a few things
this time of year: The leaves will
change, pumpkin spice lattes will return, and sumptuous, moody makeup shades will replace the summer's
juicy brights. But this year, fall's hottest makeup colors are as unexpected as they are bold. We asked makeup artist Robin Black to show us how
to wear these eight un-seasonally appropriate hues.

SKY AND OCEAN BLUES

Cerulean, turquoise, cobalt: Makeup
companies went crazy for blue in all its
various tones
OMBR PINKS LIPS
"Using colors that are in the same familyi.e., near each other on the color
wheelbut with varying intensities is
an interesting way to wear pink in the
fall,"
GLINTY-GREEN SHADOW

"Green is not always the easiest color

to wear, but these mossy, gold-flecked
shades are flattering on many different
complexions," says Black.
PURPLE LIPS
Thanks to beauty daredevils like Rihanna and model Joan Smalls, purple
lipstick is one of fall's hottest lip trends.

Colored Mascara
Over the past few seasons, brightly
colored eyeliner has taken the place
of the classic black option. From bright
teal cat eyes to bold purples taking
over the lower lash line, its clear that
the more eye-catching the color, the
better. Now, with a trend towards eye
makeup as the focal point of the face
rather than a statement lipstick, mas-

Face

Contouring made easy in 3 simple steps

When it comes to highlighting and contouring,
there's a fine (bronzer-caked) line between enhancing your best features and painting on an entirely
new face. Here's how to bring out your cheekbones,
slim your nose, and sculpt your face subtly with contouring makeup.

step-by-step
courtesy photo

Step 1: Map your face

With the darker of the two stick foundations, "Trace the temples. If you have a larger forehead, carry straight into the hairline to minimize it," Dam-Mikkelsen says. "To bring out your
cheekbones, find the hollow part by placing your fingers on
the sides of your face, and where you feel it dip underneath
the bones, just above is where you place your pigment. With
the nose, you can go a little bit narrower at the tip or you can
carry it into the brow if you have a shorter nose to add length
or width."
Step 2: Blend it
"Take a damp beautyblender and tap over the area of the
contour color, merging it into your base foundation. Tap in
small circular motions using the bigger, rounded end of the
beautyblender because it has more space. But for details like
the sides of the nose, I flatten it and squeeze it into my hands."
Step 3: Get lit
Concentrate the lighter foundation stick underneath your
eyes, Dam-Mikkelsen says. "If you want to go crazy you can
do a little bit in the center of the forehead and on the chin,
and the bridge of the nose. Blend any excess product with a
damp beautyblender."
Step 4: Dust it
With a fluffy brush, dust the entire face with loose powder.
"Translucent is best for securing a cream foundation," DamMikkelsen says.

Here's an easy guide to map your contouring!

Find blush shades to fit your skin tone

Light Olive
Think sexy Espaola Penelope Cruz. If your skin is on the lighter side like hers, go for soft tones of peach and pink. We love
Bobbi Brown Blush in Nectar.
Olive
For the chicas with olive complexions like model Alejandra Espinoza, try neutral colors like NARS Blush in Deep Throat.
Tan
Tan girls like Adrienne Bailon can get away with richer shades of color. Go for one that has a golden undertone, like Illamasqua Powder Blusher in Excite.
Deep Tan
Las Cafes con Leche like Zoe Saldana should opt for bold colors. Go crazy with pops of corals and pinks. We suggest Estee
Lauder Blush in Wild Sunset.
Dark to Deep Dark
Women with darker skin tones like Arlenis Sosa look great with those gorge fuscias and oranges to really make your skin
glow. Try NARS Blush in Exhibit A.

Celeb Inside! Reese's favorite Blush!

According to Witherspoon's makeup artist, Molly R. Stern, who covers the issue alongside
the Oscar-winning actress, the Globes glam was all about the blush. To achieve what Stern
called "full-blown flushed cheeks that look as if Reese just got away from a ravenous makeout session," she layered three blushes: Kjaer Weis Cream Blush in a plummy taupe, Kevyn
Aucoin The Pure Powder Glow in a mango hue, and most liberally, Laura Mercier's Creme
Cheek Colour in "Blaze" (a warm rose hue).

Vampy lips are in for fall.

Vampy lips arent just for the Cullens. Theyre firing up
the runway and the red carpet. Its Hollywoods hottest lip trend, and celebs like Kim Kardashian, Julianne
Hough, Katy Perry and Jennifer Lawrence are rocking
the look in a whole range of sultry shades from classic
red, to bold berry and rich plum, to deep bordeaux.
The key is picking the shade you love that best complements your complexion and hair color.
Too Faced founder, Jerrod Blandino, was recently featured on E! News giving tips and tricks on how to get
the look.
Jerrods Vampy Lip Tips:
1. First, apply a lip primer to hydrate lips and lock down color to avoid messy edges. Try our Lip Insurance Lip Primer.
2. Next, line and fill in the lips with a lip liner to add the depth and dimension required for this look. I love our Perfect Lips Lip
Liner in Perfect Berry.
3. Now, its time for lip color. There were a lot of options on the runway, but my favorite and the easiest to wear is a deep wine
berry. Try any of our berry shades of La Crme Color Drenched Lip Cream.
4. This look is all about precision, so a little clean-up may be necessary. Simply use a cotton swab around the lip, and then use
concealer with a brush or another cotton swab to create a crisp, clean definition.
The result: super sexy, ultra defined, color drenched, vampy lips.

The secret to perfect Kylie Jenner lips

courtesy photo
Begin by blending the concealer
around the outline of your lips. Dont
take it in too far; you just want to hide
your mouths natural perimeter a little.
Next, apply some powder overtop to
set the concealer. You can brush this
all over your lips if you like. (I dont
love this feeling, so I keep it atop the
concealer only.)
With your sharpened lip liner, begin
tracing slightly outside the natural
outline of your lips. The further outside the periphery you draw this line,
the bigger and stranger your lips will
look; keep it small for a subtle look.
I also round my top lip a little more
because I like the shape it gives.

because I like the shape it gives.

Using small, feathery strokes from the
outside in, fill in both lips with the
liner. This will stop any strange color
delineations between skin and lips.
It also provides a good base for your
lip color to adhere to. Im using Sonia
Kashuk Lip Definer in Bloom, a slightly
dusty rose shade that compliments
my coloring really well.
Apply your lipstick on top. Kylie seems
to prefer matte lipsticks, but I find that
colors with a bit of shine work better
in real life. Im using Revlon ColorBurst
Lip Butter in Pink Truffle, which Ive applied over my lip liner with an angled
brush.
If you really want your lipstick to be
matte, pull a tissue in half (so that its

lipstick.

Finally, to create even more depth
and dimension, I dabbed a tiny bit of
semi-clear lip gloss in the center of
my upper and lower lips. This is NARS
Lip Gloss in Easy Lover (which I MAY
have bought because of how much I
love the Spice Girls), which applies as
a lightly pink-tinted, extremely shiny
gloss that is lightweight but never
sticky.
