In the paper, The Science of Instruction: technology Enhanced Learning in Medical Education
within the United States, I ask and answer questions, concerning the use of technology
enhanced learning within medical education. I utilized fourteen different sources of information
ranging from trends in educational technology through articles speaking directly to the use of
simulation in medical education. I analyzed the information and evaluated the opinions of
experts to come up with direct links between educational technology practices and their positive
effect on the medical field, specifically medical education.

In course EDCI 513, one of the weeks discussions circulated around debating learning theory.
We were tasked with researching a particular learning theory, my groups theory was Situated
Learning. We introduced the theory to the class, talked about the scholars behind the theory, the
impact it has had on the field of educational technology, how Merrills First Principles of
Instruction apply to the theory, and finally examples of real world examples. I had previously
had no knowledge of the theory, but with the extensive research of eleven different professional
articles and books, for the presentation I have grew to have a great respect for situated learning.

In the paper, Jet Blue University Training Program: Evaluation Plan, I was asked to analyze a
training situation, provide an evaluation plan in conjunction with rationales for each decision I
made. I quickly learned how much information you can be given and how much can still be
missing from the big picture; and the effects the information, or lack thereof, can have on your
professional decisions. I utilized Kirkpatrick & Kirkpatricks expertise of evaluating training
programs to evaluate reaction, learning, behavior, and results; from there I was able to create an
objective, a means of collecting data, and evaluation method, timeframe, and a budget for each
evaluation level.
