FOUNTAIN VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL

Class of 2016
Dear Senior and Parents:
Graduation is the culmination of four years of hard work and is a major milestone on the
road to success. We are looking forward to your participation in this very important event.
Please remember that all Senior Activities, including Graduation, are a privilege for
students who uphold the honor code and rules of Fountain Valley High School. Students
violating these rules may be subject to removal from Senior Activities and/or Graduation.
We hope the schedule listed below will assist you in planning for the ceremony.
If you have not yet ordered a cap and gown, you may pick up a late order form in
the Activities Office and mail it in, or order online at www.scottgraduation.com the
deadline is May 1st. The cost is $35.00.
Graduation this year is Wednesday, June 10, 2016, at 5:00 p.m., at Le Bard Stadium,
Orange Coast College. From now until then, the schedule will be very busy. Therefore,
there are several important dates for you to mark on your calendar.
Graduation tickets will be issued starting Wednesday, May 27th and will be available every
day until Graduation. Each graduating senior will get EIGHT (8) tickets. Before seniors
may pick up their tickets, all financial debts and detention obligations must be
cleared.

of 2 dates that tickets will be sold at lunch in front of the

Order your FINAL TRANSCRIPT for college,


Including Common App., during this time. Go to
www.parchment.com directly for instructions on how
to order.
Select Destination: Academic Institution, etc.
Processing Time: Hold for Grades Your final
transcript will be sent once 2nd semester grades are
posted. Parchment website is secure and available
24/7.

Wednesday, May 25 June 8

Tickets for Graduation may be picked up beginning


Wednesday, May 25th and will be available thru June
8th, at the Financial Office. The Graduates will be
divided alphabetically into two groups; Blue Tickets and
Gold Tickets. You must have the appropriate color
ticket to see your senior get their diploma. Seniors
MUST clear all outstanding fines, detentions, etc.,
before receiving their EIGHT tickets. Do not wait until
the last minute, or be prepared for long lines. If you are
getting extra tickets from a friend, make sure they are
the right color.

Senior Clearance Cards will be handed out at the


attendance windows before 1st period.
Cap & Gowns may be picked up between 1:15-3:00pm in
the cafeteria. All those students who did not purchase their
cap and gown prior to this date MUST BRING $35.00
CASH TO BUY AT THIS TIME. A completed Senior
Clearance card is required to pick up or purchase.
Senior Honors ceremony is in the Gym at 7:00 p.m.
This is a special evening to recognize those Barons
who have or will receive special honors and
scholarships in the area of academics, athletics,
citizenship and leadership. By Invitation only.

Thursday, June 4

Senior Cruise Newport Cruise 7:30-10:30pm,


3 hour cruise, snacks, drinks, DJ, photobooth, and
karaoke. Early bird price, $20.00 Price will increase as event
date becomes closer. Students must be cleared for this event.

Sunday, June 5

Baccalaureate Ceremony at 4:00 p.m. in the FVHS


Bowl. Cap and Gowns are required.
Baccalaureate is an inspirational ceremony and attendance is
optional. It is an excellent opportunity for you and your family to
revel in the accomplishment of your graduation. Seniors wear their
cap and gown and meet at the back of the bowl. All graduates will
march in and sit together. PSS Imaging will be available to take
pictures of your graduate (flier attached).
Reception: Following the Ceremony provided by PTSA.

Monday, June 6

Senior Breakfast in the Cafeteria at 9-11am - $5.00

Tuesday, June 7

Graduation practice - meet in the Bowl at 9:00 a.m.


(MANDATORY). It is important for all graduating
seniors to be present, as roll will be taken.
NOTE: ANYONE NOT PRESENT WILL BE ELIMINATED FROM
THE GRADUATION CEREMONY. YOU WILL NOT BE EXCUSED
FROM PRACTICE TO ATTEND COLLEGE SUMMER SCHOOL.
ARRANGEMENTS SHOULD BE MADE WITH COLLEGE
INSTRUCTORS PRIOR TO GRADUATION PRACTICE.

Wednesday, June 8

GRADUATION: Seniors meet at Orange Coast


College, Le Bard Stadium at 4:00 p.m. Report to the
soccer field behind the football stadium. Ceremony
begins promptly at 5:00pm.
Blue Tickets (get their diplomas on the Home Side of the
Stadium) and Gold Tickets (get their diplomas on the
Visitor Side of the Stadium). You must have the
appropriate color ticket to see your senior get their
diploma.

GRAD NIGHT PARTY at FVHS - 9:00pm-5:00am


If you purchase at the door, $150.00 Cash Only

Thursday, June 9

DISNEYLAND/CALIFORNIA Grad Night


Disneyland 5-10pm, California Adventure 10pm-2am
(Must pre-purchase tickets on 4/14 & 4/21)

M-W, June 13 June 15

DIPLOMAS - Pick up your diploma at the high school


office between 8:30 and 2:00. Parent cannot pick up the
diploma of an 18 year old without written permission.
DRESS CODE FOR GRADUATION

No corsages, or leis, on dress or robe during the ceremony.


Only approved tassels, honors cords, cowls, etc. may be worn.
Gentlemen:
Ladies:

Appropriate Attire: long, dark trousers (not jeans), leather type shoes,
sport shirt or dress shirt with collar - tie optional.
Appropriate Attire: suit or dress, FLAT or WEDGE type shoes
(no spiked heels). Please do not bring purses or keys to graduation.

GUIDELINES FOR GRADUATES & GUESTS
GRADUATES
1.

Graduates need to meet at Orange Coast College at 4:00p.m. Report to assigned


area. Ceremony begins promptly at 5:00p.m. Seniors who arrive late will not be
permitted to participate in the ceremony.

2.

Students will be checked for inappropriate materials prior to the beginning of the
event. Students with inappropriate items may be excluded from the ceremony.

3.

Any student whose behavior detracts from the dignity of the ceremony will be
removed by school officials.

4.

Any student under the influence, or in possession of alcoholic beverages or drugs,


will not be allowed to participate in the ceremony. The student will be arrested.

5.

Students whose dress is obviously inappropriate will not participate in the event.
Bare feet, tennis shoes or beach sandals are considered inappropriate. (see next
page for Dress Code)

GUESTS
1.

Gates will open at 4:00pm. Blue ticket holders will enter the stadium at the
HOME gate. Gold ticket holders will enter the stadium at the VISITORS gate.

2.

Noisemakers, signs and balloons will not be permitted in the stadium. Please DO
NOT bring them to the Ceremony.

3.

The audience is to remain seated throughout the entire ceremony. It will hinder
other families from seeing their graduate.

4.

Audience members should not applaud or cheer for individual graduates. It will
prevent other families from hearing their student's name and delay the ceremony.

5.

At the end of the ceremony parents and their guests are NOT PERMITTED to enter
the field area. Please remain in the stands for the duration of the ceremony.

6.

Graduates will exit the north end of the field and can be met on the west side of the
stadium.

If at any time behavior of the participants or audience does not meet acceptable
standards of dignity and decorum the ceremony will be immediately terminated.
Due to the possibility of serious injury and disruption of a public event, anyone
setting off fireworks of any kind will be arrested and handed over to civil
authorities. Your cooperation will ensure an appropriate and dignified ceremony.
