Opening (state objectives, connect to previous learning, and make relevant to real life)
How will you activate student interest?
How will you connect to past learning?
How will you present the objective in an engaging and student-friendly way?
How will you communicate its importance and make the content relevant to your students?
The teacher will ask the students in the warm up question Is it humans responsibility to help
endangered animals? Why or why not?. Next the teacher will show the students a PowerPoint
with pictures of the sea lions in Alaska and Russia. The teacher will explain to the students that
they will be reading about the populations of these animals and discussing why the populations of
these animals are changing.

t
One teach one assist.
While one teacher is picking volunteers to read or answer questions the other teacher will
circulate the room keeping students on task and assisting as needed.
Differentiation Strategy
What accommodations/modifications will you include for specific students?
Do you anticipate any students who will need an additional challenge?
Students that may need more assistance will be strategically paired with students
that are able to assist them.
Students that are not comfortable with reading allowed will not be required to do so.

I do not anticipate any accommodations being needed for this portion of the lesson as it
if just for the teachers information.
The teacher will summarize the reading that was done in class with the students and ask if there
are any more questions or concerns regarding the material. In addition, the teacher will re-ask the
students Is it humans responsibility to help endangered animals? Why or why not? and If so
what can/should we do to protect the Steller Sea Lions?
