Created by: Charlene Eriguel

INTRODUCTION OF WW2

THE BEGINNING

THE TREATY OF VERSAILLES

The Treaty of Versailles held Germany and
Austria-Hungary for the entire conflict.
The Treaty of Versailles were harsh, which led
to anger Germans.
The Treaty of Versailles is NOT the direct cause
of World War II

ADOLF HITLER

Adolf Hitler was a German

politician who was the leader of
the Nazi Party and Chancellor of
Germany. As dictator of Nazi
Germany, he initiated World War
II in Europe with the invasion of
Poland in September 1939 and
was a central figure of the
Holocaust. Hitler joined World
War I. Hitler gained popular
support of Germans by attacking
the Treaty of Versailles.

NAZI PARTY

The National Socialist German

Workers' Party, was a political
party in Germany active that
practised Nazism.

The Nazis sought to improve the stock of the

Germanic people through racial purity and eugenics,
broad social welfare programs, and a collective
subordination of individual rights, which could be
sacrificed for the good of the Nazi state and the
"Aryan master race". To maintain the supposed purity
and strength of the Aryan race, the Nazis sought to
exterminate Jews, Romani, and the physically and
mentally handicapped.
They imposed exclusionary segregation on
homosexuals, Africans, Jehovah's Witnesses, and
political opponents.[10] The persecution reached its
climax when the party-controlled German state
organized the systematic murder of approximately six
million Jews and five million people from the other

The immediate cause of World War 2

was the German invasion of Poland on
1 September.

Britain and France declared war on Germany

two days after Germany entered Poland but,
slow to mobilise, they provided little in the way
of concrete support to their ally, which
crumbled in the face of Germany's lightning
war.

history in absolute terms of total dead. Over 60 million
people were killed, which was about 3% of the 1940
world population (est. 2.3 billion). The tables below
give a detailed country-by-country count of human
