    LAB 2 : LOADING DATA

    Learning Outcomes

    By the end of this lab, students should be able to:


    1. Load data into database.
    2. Explain step-by-step how to load data from others file or location.

    Theory/ Terminologies

    Oracle Database 10g Express Edition provide tool to load a lot of data into an Oracle
    database from external sources.

    Activity 2A
    Received a file from the HR manager, Gene that contains all the necessary commands and
    insert statements to load into the Oracle Database 10g Express Edition database.

    Procedure :
    Step 1: Open Oracle Database 10g Express Edition. Log in as the default administrator which
    is Username = system and Password = oracle. (Note : Use password that you have enter during
    installation). Then click Login.

    Step 2: Select SQL icon, and then click SQL Scripts -> Upload.

    Step 3: Click Browse to select file.

    Step 4: Select file and click Open.

    Step 5: Type loadsample in script Name field , then click Upload.

    Step 6: To execute the SQL Script, click the loadsample icon.

    Step 7: Click Run to confirm.

    Step 8: Click Home to view the database objects you just loaded.

    Step 9 : Click Object Browse -> Browse -> Tables.

    Step 10: Select table, for example Employee table, click Data icon to show Employee data.
