new customer details. Stock levels are automatically updated as you add items to the invoice,
allowing you to always know what is in stock.
iMagic Inventory Software comes included with a number of pre-defined invoice templates
that you can use. You can easily add your logo and contact details to get up and running
straight away. For more control you can use MS Word to create your own custom designed
invoice templates.
Customer database
Keeping track of customer details is important. Not only does it allow you to build up a
database for Marketing and Sales in the future but it also saves you the hassle of re-entering
customer details for repeat visits. iMagic Inventory helps you to do this by automatically
saving customer details as you enter invoices. You can also import existing customer details
from other systems and export out to other applications such as accounting or email systems.
Perfect for E-Mail or Postal Marketing!
Inventory Items
Track your inventory items with ease. iMagic Inventory allows you to keep a list of all your
inventory items and record details about them, including item codes, total stock, warehouse
and bin locations, barcodes, category and sub-category, multiple pricing (such as retail,
wholesale, specials, etc) and many other options are available. If you need to record
information for an inventory item that isn't covered then you can add custom fields.
Barcode Support
Full barcode support saves you time and hassle. Simply attach a barcode reader to your PC
and it will fully integrate into the software. Saving time and reducing errors by scanning
stock.

options, iMagic Inventory lets you see your inventory while you manage it. Use our easy to
use interface to enter stock details and your stock will be managed before your eyes.
Item Tracking
If you need to track items by serial numbers then you'll need iMagic Inventory's Item
Tracking feature. With the Item Tracking feature turned on iMagic Inventory Software will
automatically track the movements of individual items around your system.
Expandability
iMagic Inventory is the most expandable inventory system available. The standard version
allows you to directly link into MS Office, allowing you to use your existing software. Need
a mail-merge? Then use MS Word. Need custom reports? Then link into MS Excel or MS
Access.
Worried that you'll have to change your inventory system as your business grows? No
problem! iMagic Inventory is also available for use with Microsoft's SQL Server, which can
support 524,272 Terabytes. That's a lot of data!
Interactive Reporting
With an economic down turn more than ever you don't want stock taking up valuable space
and with iMagic Inventory you don't need to. Using our unique interactive reporting system
you can replace unpopular stock with more profitable items. Just click and select the item to
view, easily finding the most efficient balance of inventory.
Automatic Reordering
Tired of tracking when to order in new stock items? Or even worse turning customers away
due to insufficient stock being available? Then use iMagic Inventory's automated reordering
system. The automatic system allows you to set the stock level you want to reorder at. iMagic
Inventory Software will then take care of the rest, automatically generating Vendor Reorders
as the stock levels start to get low.
Multiple Users
Share your database across your network. iMagic Inventory has full network support,
allowing you to have access to your stock and inventory any place - anytime. Create invoices
and manage stock from your front and back office. If you have Windows XP or above you
can even create a Virtual Private Network (VPN) and access your data over the internet,
giving you full remote management.
Tracking sales by Sales Rep's is a whole lot easier. You don't need to manually collate who
sold what on which dates. With the User Access system you can automatically record which
Sales Rep or user created an invoice and made that sale. Export out, calculate commissions
and produce reports.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
I'm using the trial version of iMagic Inventory, when I purchase the full version will I
have to re-enter any information?
No your information is safe. Both versions use the same system.
To setup multiple users you would install the software onto each PC that needs it. Then
designate one as the main/server PC, this then shares it's database with the other PCs on the
network.
1) Install the software onto the server, this will then be the central database. Configure and
setup the system and other details as required.
2) Still on the server, create a share to the folder in which you installed the software. You can
do this in Windows 2000 by right clicking on the folder and selecting Sharing. You'll then
want to give full read and write access.
3) Install the software onto each workstation (don't run it just yet).
4) On each workstation run the Network Administration program (found by pressing
Start/Program Files/iMagic Inventory). Follow the wizard and set the database path to the
share that was created on the server.
5) You can now run the software on each workstation and it will use the database on the
server.
I am wondering if iMagic Inventory has a limit to the number of inventory items the
database will hold?
The upper limit depends on the speed of your PC, available RAM etc. The average PC
should be able to deal with 20,000 items. A more powerful PC can handle many times that.
I'm quite happy with my pencil and paper why should I use a computer?
There are many advantages to using computer software although the main one should always
be that it makes your life easier. The software product is intended to save you time and effort.
For receiving stock, does iMagic Inventory automatically increase the "number in
stock" count each time a particular barcode is scanned, or is further user input needed
to enter the quantity?
Yes iMagic Inventory can automatically increase stock levels when it arrives. From the main
menu select Inventory/Receive Stock.
For outgoing stock, are scanned items automatically deducted from the "number in
stock" count and moved to the invoice?
Yes as you add items to the invoice the stock level is automatically updated.
1) Find the folder of the current Database File by launching iMagic Inventory then selecting
Help/About and clicking "Database".
2) Open the folder found and exit iMagic Inventory. Note that if you are using Windows 7 or
Windows Vista and the above folder is in the "Program Files" folder you'll need to click on
the "Compatibility Folder" button to open the actual folder.
3) Copy the Database File (db.mdb) to the new PC either over the network or copy it to a
USB key.
4) On the new PC find the folder of the Database File, again to to this launch iMagic
Inventory on the new PC, select Help/About and click "Database". Again on Windows 7 or
Windows Vista click on the "Compatibility Folder" button.
5) Copy the Database File to the new folder.
How can I stop iMagic Inventory from rounding the currency values entered? Say I
want to enter $0.0237, it always rounds it to $0.02.
The number of decimal places is controlled by Windows. If you select
Start/Configure/Control Panel and then Regional Settings and then Currency. You can
change the number of decimal places.
When I launch the application I get the error "Format of the initialization string does
not conform to the OLE DB specification.". What can I do?
This error indicates that either Microsoft Jet or Microsoft MDAC are out of date or need
repairing. Mostly this can be fixed by going to the Microsoft Update website and
downloading the latest versions. However if you are running Windows XP with SP2 then the
Microsoft updates above may not launch. In which case you'll need to repair your install, you
can do this by:
1) Locate the mdac.inf file in C:\WINDOWS\inf
2) Right click on the file and select install.
3) When prompted for a location, enter:
C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386
4) If prompted for the Windows XP CD, either load the CD or point to:
C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386
Company Profile
iMagic has been developing software in different guises for over 25 years. The original
development was for the Amstrad CPC, BBC Micro, Acorn Electron and ZX Spectrum. The
move into the PC market, originally the IBM PC or compatible market, came about with the
advent of MS/DOS 4 by Microsoft. This superseded the Operating Systems available on other
computers.
Since those humble beginnings iMagic has developed software for multinational companies
including BancTec, Barclays Bank, Telstra and IBM. Each time the software has been re
branded in the respective colours of the company.
Today iMagic develops directly for and to customers using it's own brand and style. From off
the shelf products to tailor made solutions that rival that of any software developer. The
intention is to move toward direct selling and away from the big brand reselling that
dominated in the 90s.
