Egg Drop Lab
Egg Drop Lab
Egg Drop Lab
I. Introduction:
In this experiment the experimenter will be dealing with gravity, force and power.. Power
is how fast the object works. through the lab we found out how both tie into each other and
how to calculate each of them.
II. Purpose:
The purpose of this experiment is to figure out how to make a object that will protect an
egg from breaking when dropped form an X amount of feet using the given materials.
III. Materials:
• Straw's
• Toothpicks
• rubber bands
• paperclips
• egg
• tape
• one piece of computer paper
IV. Procedures:
1. Create a device using the listed materials
2. take the device to the top of the band platform.
3. get another student to drop your device towards the ground.
4. observe the device as it goes to the ground.
5. as it hits the ground observe how if it breaks or not and record it on the
data table.
6. after your device is dropped and if your egg breaks clean up the mess that
it made.
V. Data/ Analysis:
Egg Successful or Not:
Trial Yes/No
Trail #1 No
Trail#2 No
VI. Conclusion:
in this experiment the experimenters tested made devices to see if they could protect an
egg with the given materials. the object that was greater and modified failed both times because
of the stability of the device. over time the device started to become more un-stable do to the
tape that was used as an adhesive. as the device was dropped the wind caught it and began to
spin it as it feel to the ground. When it hit the ground the force of the egg made the device
basically crumple and bend causing the egg to hit against the ground regardless of the rubber
bands holding it in place. some improvements that could of been made was to make the device
more sturdy and to get a better adhesive to keep the straw supports in place. This experiment
helps the experimenter better understand how force and gravity tie into each other.
