First Reading: Genesis 3:8-15 8They heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden at the time of the evening breeze, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. 9But the Lord God called to the man, and said to him, Where are you? 10He said, I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself. 11He said, Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat? 12The man said, The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit from the tree, and I ate. 13Then the Lord God said to the woman, What is this that you have done? The woman said, The serpent tricked me, and I ate. 14The Lord God said to the serpent, Because you have done this, cursed are you among all animals and among all wild creatures; upon your belly you shall go, and dust you shall eat all the days of your life. 15I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will strike your head, and you will strike his heel. Hear the word of the Lord: Thanks be to God Psalm 130 (said antiphonally) 1 Out of the depths have I called to you, O Lord: Lord, hear my voice. 2 O let your ears consider well: the voice of my supplication. 3 If you, Lord, should note what we do wrong: Who then, O Lord, could stand? 4 But there is forgiveness with you: so that you shall be feared. 5 I wait for the Lord, my soul waits for him: and in his word is my hope. 6 My soul looks for the Lord: more than watchmen for the morning, more, I say, than watchmen for the morning. 7 O Israel, trust in the Lord, for with the Lord there is mercy: and with him is ample redemption. 8 He will redeem Israel: from the multitude of their sins.
Second Reading: 2 Corinthians 4:13-5:5 13But just as we have the same spirit of faith that is in accordance with scriptureI believed, and so I spokewe also believe, and so we speak, 14because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus, and will bring us with you into his presence. 15Yes, everything is for your sake, so that grace, as it extends to more and more people, may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God. 16So we do not lose heart. Even though our outer nature is wasting away, our inner nature is being renewed day by day. 17For this slight momentary affliction is preparing us for an eternal weight of glory beyond all measure, 18because we look not at what can be seen but at what cannot be seen; for what can be seen is temporary, but what cannot be seen is eternal. 1For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2For in this tent we groan, longing to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling 3if indeed, when we have taken it off we will not be found naked. 4For while we are still in this tent, we groan under our burden, because we wish not to be unclothed but to be further clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. 5He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee. Hear the word of the Lord: Thanks be to God The Gospel: Mark 3:20-35 The Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Mark chapter three beginning at the twentieth verse. Glory to you Lord Jesus Christ 20and the crowd came together again, so that they could not even eat. 21When his family heard it, they went out to restrain him, for people were saying, He has gone out of his mind. 22And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, He has Beelzebul, and by the ruler of the demons he casts out demons. 23And he called them to him, and spoke to them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan? 24If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. 26And if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but his end has come. 27But no one can enter a strong mans house and plunder his property
without first tying up the strong man; then indeed the house can be plundered. 28Truly I tell you, people will be forgiven for their sins and whatever blasphemies they utter; 29but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit can never have forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin 30for they had said, He has an unclean spirit. 31Then his mother and his brothers came; and standing outside, they sent to him and called him. 32A crowd was sitting around him; and they said to him, Your mother and your brothers and sisters are outside, asking for you. 33And he replied, Who are my mother and my brothers? 34And looking at those who sat around him, he said, Here are my mother and my brothers! 35Whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother. For the Gospel of the Lord: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Parish Friday Night BBQs: All are welcome to these social gatherings. Their aim is twofold: first, is to enjoy each others company and perhaps, get to know each other a little better. And second, to build a sense of community within the parish, and to encourage a unified purpose as a parish community. The BBQs are BYO meat and drink with a salad or dessert to share. We will attempt to have these gatherings on the fourth Friday of each month. See the Parish diary for upcoming BBQ dates and venues. Friday night BBQ group is going to Donnybrook Cheese Factory for wood fired pizza on Friday 22nd June, meeting at 6.30pm at the Rectory to car pool for a 7pm booking. Please ring Lyndell on 0416 128 698 to reserve a seat. ALL WELCOME! Direct Debit Offerings: Parish Account details: CBA Account Name Kilmore Anglican Parish. BSB 06 3698. Account Number 1018 4649. Giving Envelopes: Our current Giving Envelopes run out at the end of the financial year, and the new sets for 2012/2013 will start from Sunday July 1st. If you have taken a set in the past, please take a new set (any number you like). If you have never used the parish Giving Envelopes and do not pay your weekly giving directly into our bank account, please consider taking a set of Envelopes. These aren't recorded so no one knows what you are giving (this is between you and God), but it is a way of encouraging a weekly and regular commitment to the financial side of our parish. The new envelopes afford a golden opportunity to prayerfully consider the amount and frequency of your giving. People for Christ Church rosters: Since the last request for more people to help with the various rosters Trevor has received exactly zero offers. The next question may have to be, 'what do you want to do without? Morning tea, a clean church, sidespersons, etc. etc. Our rosters form an important part of the ministry of our people to each other. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated by those who take the lion's share of the work now. Op-Shop Volunteers: The parish op-shop needs to build its roster of shop attendants. Our current volunteers need some back up. Please consider this ministry. Contact Mary Saunders or Dianne Dixon for details.
Saints Days this week: Wednesday 13th Antony of Padua, missionary &
preacher (d. 1231); Friday 15th Evelyn Underhill, spiritual writer (d. 1941).
Candles @ Christ Church: Wanted - a parishioner at Christ Church to volunteer to take on the cleaning of the candle sticks and candle stands. Not an onerous job and not one that needs doing every week! All our candle sticks are lacquered so a wash in hot soapy water and a buff up with a soft cloth is all that is needed to keep them shining, and boiling water is required to remove any build up of wax. The candles need to be trimmed or cleaned of excess wax, and the votive candle stand needs to be replenished as candles are used. If anyone is interested in taking on this simple but necessary job, please see Caroline. Gift from God: Lyndell and Trevor want to give heartfelt thanks for the generosity and encouragement received from one/some of Gods people. Pew Reflections for the Second Sunday after Pentecost: Through this passage Mark involves us in the frantic pace of Jesus ministry. It almost seems that matters are out of control. The crowd are gathering in a kind of frenzy, the religious leaders are agitated, Jesus family are disturbed and the evil spirits are giving public recognition to the presence of God among them. What a mess. If we take our cue from the prayer of the day we will see that Jesus is acting with purpose and with power. After all he is the Son of God and his work is to teach and show others what the Kingdom of God is about. Jesus makes it clear that no earthly or spiritual power, in fact, no family, will deter him from his mission. There is urgency in this work of God, the powers of evil must be overthrown, the disciples must be taught, and people are to be set free from evil and sickness. Let us pray for a greater sense of urgency in carrying out the work of God in the communities to which we belong, and for the strength to stand against those who seek to thwart Gods purposes for his creation. Give thanks for the Church of the Province of Central Africa, for Archbishop Albert Chama, and for his clergy and people.
