The document discusses various cyberware equipment for modern cyberpunks, focusing on the Spider processor and its upgrades/modules.

The Spider processor is an implant that connects to a user's nervous system and allows for wireless connection and manipulation of perceptions. It comes with memory space that can be upgraded and has various functions like agenda, computer, media player, and calls.

Common upgrades include increasing memory space (MU), improving the data wall security, adding a phone module for calls, machine links for connections, and interface plugs for wired high-speed links.

NEURALWARE Spider processor: The Spider processor is the evolution of the Basic Processor widely spread in the 2020. The processor is a mixture between implants and nanotechnology installed directly under the base of the skull where it connects to the rest of cyberware within the user nervous system. It can manipulate the user perceptions (visual, auditory, tactile). Thanks to this implant, users dont need other cybernetics to benefit from external input (like cyberoptics with Times Square Marquee). The Spider comes with 2 MU of space (upgradable to 10MU), +1 data walls and wireless connection. It can be used as agenda, personal computer or music and video player. It can even make calls using wireless connection to a public Wi-Fi. It is incredibly cheap compared to its contemporary version thanks to government subsidy. Paranoid people can buy it free of government tampering for 2500ed on the black market. The Spider is a highly modifiable hardware able to run various types of software with a vibrant community dedicated to it. Most of the software has to be downloaded via the Wi-Fi link unless the user have a chip socket or interface plug. Once in the memory unit, the programs can be activated at will. You can turn on or off the wireless connection at will, but the operation will complete in 1d6 seconds.

Memory upgrade: You can upgrade the Spider memory capacity installing an extra module. It comes in various sizes, from 1 to 8 MU. You have to pay full price every time you upgrade it, if you previously installed a +1UM upgrade and want to improve it to +6MU, you have to pay the full price of a +6MU upgrade. The cost is 550ed for every +1 to MU (4400ed for a +8MU). Note that the Spider can only manage a total of 10MU. Data wall upgrade: A data wall upgrade is mostly a BIOS upgrade in your Spider processor, making it more secure to external hacking. Higher upgrades require additional MU space to function. +1 +2 +3 +4 to to to to data data data data wall, wall, wall, wall, 0MU, 0MU, 1MU, 1MU, 1000ed 2100ed 3300ed 4500ed

As you can see, upgrading your Spider data walls isnt exactly cheap. It isnt a common street modification and usually the average Joe doesnt get hacked ever. Data wall upgrades degrade with time as netrunning programs improve. When you buy an upgrade, you have a full year of free updates to your data walls. After that period, you must pay 500ed per year to maintain access to the updates. If not updated, the data walls can degrade at a -1 STR per month (at Referee discretion) to a minimum of +1 DW. Note to referee: If you dont apply software degradation for netrunners, dont degrade the data walls. Phone module: With this modification you can use the cellular network and make calls everywhere you are as long as you have line coverage. If you can't access a Wi-Fi, you can use your cellular link to connect to the net. Machine link: A universal link to any kind of smart machine, from vehicles to cyberdecks or smartguns using wireless or wired connections. Interface plugs: An interface plug let you connect to machine with a wired high-speed connection. Most plugs come with retractable cables. Wired connections are considered to more secure than wireless ones, which can be hacked or disrupted. Most military personnel use wired connections to control his equipment. Additionally, they have a higher bandwidth of transmission and some equipment requires wired connections to function (like Dog Brains). GPS module: A module with standard GPS functionality, it comes with navigation maps and tools. It even connects with major ad dealers, informing you (at your desire) of the nearest shops, restaurants, etc. CHIPWARE Life backup: This software records your visual and auditory feedback to an external device. It doesnt record emotions or tactile sense. Those recordings can be viewed later with any kind of video player. Targeting scope: As per the cyberoptic option. Voice stress analyzer: As per the cyberaudio option.

Personal assistant: This software contains an utility program with interactive capabilities, net data gathering and conversation personality with pseudo-intelligence capable of managing most of your everyday tasks. It can utilize your domotic installations via the wireless link to prepare you a coffee, breakfast or scan the news and you dont even need to tell him to do it. He can manage calls, alarms, notifications and even use you skill chips. When you install it, you have to choose a name, personality and appearance (that only you will be able to see via your Spider interface). At that point it will learn as much as it can about your manners, likes and dislikes to serve as a personal assistant. It will act in a manner that pleases you, even faking a romance if that is what you wish. But the only way to interact with it physically is in a virtual reality. There is a thriving market with pre-constructed personalities and appearances. It have the equivalent of INT 6.
