Path To Heaven Review
Developing ideas to convey the desired message wasnt easy. At first, trying to relate the ideas to make the surreal collage without making it seem dull and unthought-of became a very complex task. The purpose throughout the creation process was to be able to show an image to the audience which seemed real and had some aspects of unusual things that made it surreal. With this, I mean that the purpose was to make the image as real as possible to later make it seem surreal, making it a much believable collage, through which a message could be thought. Even though it was a very overwhelming task to be able to take all of the ideas and blend them together to be able to form an image that looked very realistic as well as surreal at the same time, I am satisfied with my collage, because I was able to put forward the message I was trying to convey Heaven is the hope for the poor when poverty is the only way of living they known of. Because of the collages simplicity, it is easier to understand. This is because it gives the collage a much realistic touch, making it a more imaginable thing. The collage can be said to have been very successful because the images have been blended using various different tools, depending on the aspect wanted, which helps produce different emotions. The fact that the collage has an appealable and charming design makes it interesting and comfortable for the viewers, since its not overloaded with images and the whole scenario is simple to follow. This makes it appropriate for any audience whether it is teens or adults. The collage as a whole includes 20 digital elements. To ensure that the images were arranged in a very unique and original way, I started with one key theme in mind: Poverty. Then, I gathered tons of images related to the theme. As I was looking through the images, I felt some strong connection between Religion and Poverty so that is why, later I decided to give the global theme which is conveyed a much deeper feeling. With this in mind, I set up to
put everything together. My knowledge in Photoshop was pretty basic before starting the collage and so before doing the actual collage, I continuously spent time looking at Photoshop tutorials in order to widen my techniques and tools register. This was very useful because by gaining more experience in using Photoshop, I was able to vary the tools I used to blend the images together in the collage, therefore, achieving an original and unique scenario. Some of the Photoshop features and tools I used where: -Magnetic Lasso -Polygonal Lasso -Quick Selection Tool -Magic Wand Tool -Crop Tool -Eyedropper tool -Brush Tool -Eraser Tool -Gradient Tool -Smudge Tool -Blur Tool -Hand Tool -Brightness/Contrast -Levels
-Vibrance -Hue/Saturation -Solid Color Fill Layer -Gradient Fill Layer -Inverse Select Tool -Gaussian Blur -Iris Blur -Mask Layer -Bevel & Emboss Style Layer -Inner Glow Style Layer -Colour Overlay Style Layer -Gradient Overlay Style Layer -Drop Shadow Style Layer -Radial Gradient Style Layer -Opacity variation -Blending Mode -Free Transform Tool -Scale Tool -Rotate Tool
The use of photoshop tools in my collage did add depth to it. This is because, as I used a wide variety of tools, every single object or part of the picture had something unique. For instance, when I used the blur tool I thought that it was an excelent idea because it helped stand out the poor boy that was going to walk through the path to heaven. Also, by changing the tools I used all throoughout the collage, the outocome turned out to be really good because the image is very vivid and full of live. Even if it is a sad theme being argued here Poverty, as a viewer I believe that hope is evident from the moment you take a look at the image. If I had more time to be able to improve my work, I would do two key thingsWork on the edges surrounding the boys body. With this I mean that I would have soent more time trying to make all of the cuttings a little bith smoother. The second thing I would do, would be to maybe experiment a bit more with some other tools to see if any of them gives a much better appearance to the collage. Something that went wrong were the clouds coming out of the door. This was a problem because at the start, the point was to make rays of light come out of the door, not clouds. However, I had to do some improvisation because I didnt have enough time to add the light rays instead of the clouds because it was a very time consuming process. If I did the proyect again, I would keep it as it is, although I would try to organize my time best to be able to work on the rays of light, which I believe would have made the project become stunning. Probabl another thing that I might do different, would be to add some more detail into the portrayal of religion in the collage. At first, when I wa starting to work on the developing of the ideas and organization stage, I had an idea, to do some sort of tunnel and that in the end there was a clear sky. I wanted to out some piano keys as the foreground, whilst a girl was walking on top of it,
trying to reach the end. This was my idea at firt and I did try and do it, but, because it didnt come out as desired, this ended up becoming my alternative idea. What I can conclude from this proyect is that besides it being fun, I was able to learn lots of new things about photoshop: How to use new tools, how to rearrange layer positions, to vary opacity and layer style, to use filters and effects when necessary and many other things.
