Mechanical Separation / GEA Westfalia Separator

The Westfalia Separator ecod Decanters The Core of the ecod System
The Westfalia Separator ecod decanter is a horizontal separating decanter with a cylindrical-conical solid wall bowl for the continuous separation of solid and liquid. The ecod decanters are specially designed for the new ecod system, a process which doesn't need any dilution water. The valuable slurry discharge of the ecod decanters can be composted and used as fertilizer, so effluent ponds are no longer necessary for effluents from the decanter. The solid-wall bowl has a cylindrical section for efficient separation and clarification of the liquid. The product enters the decanter through the feed tube and passes through the distributor into the centrifugation space. The liquid level in the bowl is adjustable via regulating plates. Due to the centrifugal forces, the solid particles are forced to the bowl wall and are transported by the decanter scroll to the solids outlet. The design of the special scroll avoids oil losses at the solid side. The liquids are separated in the separation zone into two resulting liquids: oil and liquid solids discharge. The thickness of the light phase layer is adjustable by means of regulating plates. The clarified and separated oil leave the centrifugation space via exchangeable regulating plates and discharge through outlet.
