And the worldly life is not but amusement and diversion; but the home of the Hereafter is best

for those who fear Allah, so will you not reason? [Al Anam 6:32]

Ibn Umar reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, took hold of my shoulder and said, Be in this world as if you were a stranger or a traveler. Mujahid added: Ibn Umar would say, If you survive till the evening, do not expect to be alive in the morning, and if you survive till the morning, do not expect to be alive in the evening, and take from your health for your sickness, and take from your life for your death. [Bukhari]

- Theres a book called Shiny Objects: Why We Spend Money We Don't Have in Search of Happiness We Can't Buy by James A. Roberts Now, in this book Roberts talks about how American society has changed over the yearshe mentions about the American Dream. Whats the American Dream? It was the concept that a perfect life or true happiness is in owning a house with a white picket fence, a beautiful wife, and a couple of children. And you saw this reflected in shows like I Love Lucy, Leave it to Beaver, and the likes.Roberts says that NOW, people want a mansion, with a two-three car garage and a couple of Hummers, etc..he described it as the American Dream on steroids. - Ali radiAllahu Anhu said, People are asleep, only when they die, will they wake up

Know that the life of this world is but amusement and diversion and adornment and boasting to one another and competition in increase of wealth and children [al Hadid 57:20]

-Isa a.s. once saw the dunya, and the dunya was embellished like a beautiful prostitute. And Isa (as) said, Who are you? And this prostitute said, Im the dunya Then Isa (as) asked, How

many partners have you had? And she said, Ive had billions of partners! Ever man who has come upon Earth has been my partner. And Isa (as) asked, How many have you been faithful to? And she said, Not even one! And Isa (as) said, Fool is he who falls in love with you after hes seen what you have done with your previous partners

Allah says:

and [yet], do not forget your share of the world. [Qasas 28:77]

-Whats your share in this world? ITS YOUR KAFFAN (funeral shroud)!!! I ask you, is your kaffan going to have pockets? Whatchu gonna take away from this dunya? Then why do you make this dunya your purpose? - The following is related on the authority of Janir, on the authority of Laith. A man accompanied Jesus (pbuh), son of Mary, and said, "I will be with you and will accompany you." So they set off and came to the bank of a river and sat down to breakfast; and they had three loaves. They ate two loaves, and a third loaf was left over. Then Jesus (pbuh) rose up and went to the river and drank, after which he returned, but did not find the loaf; so he said to the man, "Who took the loaf" He replied, "I do not know." Then he set off with his companion and saw a gazelle with two of her young. The narrator says, he called one of them and it came to him; then he cut its throat and roasted part of it, and he and that man ate. Then he said to the young gazelle, "Rise, by the permission of Allah." When it rose and went away, he said to the man, "I ask you by Him Who has shown you this sign, who took the loaf?" He replied, "I do not know." Afterwards they came to a wadi with water in it and Jesus (pbuh) took the man's hand and they walked on the water. Then, when they had crossed, he said to him, "I ask you by Him Who has shown you this sign, who took the loaf?" He replied, "I do not know." Then they came to a desert and sat down, and Jesus (pbuh) began to collect earth and a heap of sand, after which he said, "Become gold, and he divided it into three parts and said, "A third is for me, a third for you, and a third for him who took the loaf." Then he said, "I am the one who took the loaf." He said, "It is all yours." Jesus (pbuh) then left him and two men came to him in the desert while he had the wealth with him and wished to take it from him and kill him. He said, "It is among us in thirds; so send one of you to the village to buy food for us to eat." The narrator said: They sent one of them, and he who was sent said to himself, "Why should I devide this wealth with these men? I shall put poison in this food and kill them and take the wealth myself." So he did so. And these two men said, "Why should we give this man a third of the wealth? When he returns we shall kill him, and devide the wealth between us." The narrator said: So when he returned they killed him and ate the food and died; and that wealth remained in the desert with those three men lying dead

beside it. Then Jesus (pbuh) passed them in that condition and said to his companions, "This is the world, so beware of it."

But you prefer the worldly life,

While the Hereafter is better and more enduring. [al Ala 87:16-17]
- Imam Qurtabi says that the only portion of this dunya you have, is your KAFN What you go to in your grave is with those two kafns. Thats it. -Have you ever went to a graveyard and looked at the grave stones? You will see its written on the 1783, 1698, 1834 etc. etc. you will see they spent more time in their GRAVE than they spent in this dunya. - The Prothet saw had patches on his clothes. He had eleven patches when he left this world.Abu Bakr left this world had 14 patches on his clothes. Umr ibn Abdul Aziz (one of the richest sahaba) at the end of his life, the clothes he was wearing on his deathbed were the only clothes he OWNED!
O you who seeks the hand of the dunya in marriage! Know that she has a new lover everyday She takes a husband now, yet gives herself at the same time to an other Elsewhere She only accepts lovers so that she may kill them in her bosom one by one I have been fooled and the affliction is spreading in my body little by little Ready yourself and take provisions for death, for the herald has called: tis time to leave, tis time to leave!
