Sophisticated Projects
Difficult locations for substations and transformers
Hydropower stations
Metro stations
The substation is located in a stadium. It was a big challenge to coordinate the implementation of the substation with the ongoing work on site. Transformer openings are closed with prefabricated concrete slab, which can be removed with reasonable effort.

Mainly under grounded substation in an urban environment Main electrical equipment with gaseous insulation, thus avoiding fire hazards Compactness due to latest GIS technology Sophisticated SF6 gas monitoring with slow and fast gas leak detection Integrated control system enabling unmanned substation operation
Substation in a park in the middle of commercial district. Access ramp, AC openings and stairs are hidden behind landscaping.
Less effort with single storey underground buildings. Ongoing project in Switzerland: Monitored with Webcam

HSE Regulations
Emergency exit No toxic materials (PVC)
HVAC
Ventilation
Transformer separated from other devices. More space needed.
Humidity
Avoid humidity by minimizing air exchange
Emmissions
Noise
Inconvenient sound of HVACunits and transformers
Electromagnetic
Too small vertical clearance to public places or EDP
Access
Heavy Equipment
If possible transformers on ground floor
Aesthetic
Architectural design of visible parts
Section 1
HV cables in horizontal position terminated LV cables in cable tray above LCC cubicels LV cable entry to LCC cubicles from the top
If the space between ground surface and water table is limited, the cable basement can be avoided.
