CROP Walk Crop Walks are ecumenical, interfaith community events. CROP stands for Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty. Undesignated funds help support the worldwide programs of Church World Service. In partnership, CWS supports self-help development, meets emergency needs, and helps address the root causes of poverty and powerlessness. Millions of people around the world walk long distances every day: to get water for daily needs; to bring home food for their families; to nd safe shelter in times of war or disaster; to nd wood for fuel and fodder for livestock; to go to school; to farm distant elds; to take goods and produce to market; or to nd medical care when illness strikes. The CROP Walk will be Sunday, October 6, at Gladbrooks Christ Lutheran Church (next to Caseys) at 2:00 pm. Everyone, young and older, are welcome to walk on the bike path west of Gladbrook. Please give your donation to one of our youth anytime in September. Thank you for supporting CROP.

Who Are the Chapel Volunteers? ! All women of the church are invited to join the Volunteers, who are a group of women who help fulll Chapels mission to grow in faith and share Gods love. They meet twice a year, usually in September and March, to plan seasonal activities. They may not participate in each of the following events each year but some past activities have included: 1. Plan either Easter Sunrise program or breakfast (may rotate with youth). 2. Furnish lunch for funerals, Baccalaureate and Charge Conference when Chapel hosts, and other events when needed. 3. Go on a day trip in spring or summer. 4. Coordinate fall activity, like hayride. 5. Serve senior citizens dinner. 6. Organize Hanging and De-Hanging of the Greens throughout church. 7. Decorate a Christmas tree for Festival of Trees at Gladbrook. 8. Plan Christmas caroling. 9. Provide food baskets or boxes of candy when caroling. 10. Plan a holiday outing. 11. Help furnish food for Garwins Live Nativity. 12. Coordinate fundraisers, such as the Chapel cookbook. 13. Send cards to hospitalized (follow card and gift suggestions). ! ! They invite all Chapel women to attend their fall meeting on Thursday, September 12, in the Fellowship Hall at 7:00 pm. Thank you in advance, Chapel ladies, for helping out when asked!

Congratulations!
John and Cheri Richters son, John, passed his boards and is a Doctor of Physical Therapy. He has a lot of letters after his name now: DPT, PT, ATC! He will be working for Sports Plus and traveling with Gladbrook-Reinbeck to all their football games this fall. His wife, Katie, is working for MidWestOne Bank in Conrad. She is guring out all the ins and outs of the banking world. Please keep your eyes and ears open for a house in our area that might work for them! They are eager to have a home of their own.
Congratulations to two newly engaged couples: Wade Raymond & Stacy Grimes who will be married October 12, 2013; and to Andrew Burt & Megan Frandsen who will be married August 9, 2014! Siera Richter was gone two weeks in Uganda visiting orphans with Childrens Hope Chest Ministries. She had a wonderful time and feels very blessed from the experience. She cannot wait to go back! Grant Day, Sierra Winters friend, is back from National Guard. District Superintendent Jackie Bradford is giving the message at Chapel on Sept 8. Chapel was very sorry to hear that Jennifer Daniel has resigned as Chapels pastor. Her last Sunday was August 25. The PPR committee, with DS Jackie, is busy searching for a new pastor.
