Tellabs 6310 Edge Node

The Tellabs 6310 edge node is a compact plug-and-play solution for multiple applications in access and customer premises supplying 2 Mbit/s, 34/45 Mbit/s, Fast Ethernet and ATM.
High Compactness All the Way to Your Doorstep The Tellabs 6310 edge node is a highly compact and versatile unit. It is well suited for access network applications and matches the requirements of Customer Premises. The Tellabs 6310 node is a complete add/drop or terminal multiplexer housed in a single box. The Tellabs 6310 node is available in two versions. The compact version is just 1U high providing a complete SDH node with 21 E-1 lines. With the flexible version an extra tributary service in addition to the 21 E-1 lines is provided. Optical aggregate interfaces are available at STM-1 and STM-4 levels with short and long-haul lasers. Possible tributary interfaces are E-1, E-3, DS-3, E-4, STM-1, optical ATM and Fast Ethernet. Compact Mechanical Design with Full SDH Functionality Derived from the Tellabs 6320 edge node the Tellabs 6310 node supports all the advanced features of SDH networks like network protection and performance monitoring. Furthermore it is fully supported by the powerful Tellabs 6300 network manager. The compact design of the Tellabs 6310 node fits into 19-inch ETSI racks or it can even be used in a desktop version. The self-contained network element approach simplifies the installation procedure. In order to install the Tellabs 6310 node you just have to connect the power supply cable, the aggregate and tributary interfaces. Finally, the Tellabs 6310 is introduced to the Tellabs 6300 manager and it is ready for operation. Flexible Solution that Fits in Various Applications The compact and resilient design with extended operational temperature range (-25 to +55 C) makes the Tellabs 6310 node well suited for outdoor cabinet applications in the access network. In fixed network applications the Tellabs 6310 node is typically located along with access nodes for POTS, ISDN and narrow-band data services and DSLAM delivering the advanced DSL services. Equipped with E-1 and data (ATM or Ethernet) interfaces the Tellabs 6310 node easily connects remote access multiplexers to centralised switches over the SDH transport network.

In mobile networks the Tellabs 6310 node can furthermore act as HUB node grooming the traffic at VC-12 level to ensure efficient use of fibre or microwave links. With Fast Ethernet the Tellabs 6310 node is ideal for Customer Premises. The head office is connected to subsidiaries or branched over just one fibre pair. The 2 Mbit/s lines are used to interconnect the telephone system whereas the data networks are easily connected with Fast Ethernet lines. Tellabs 6310 node can be managed remotely from the centralised NMS even across third party SDH networks. Embedded DCN channels make it possible to signal across the third party network without termination of DCN signals. As the Tellabs 6310 node supports broadcast drop and continue it is suitable for video transmission SDH. Depending on bandwidth and video equipment interfaces with 2, 34 or 45 Mbit/s are full usable for this purpose. The Tellabs 6310 edge node is managed by the open Tellabs 6300 network manager, which provides automatic path set-up and grooming, synchronisation, network views, practical GUIs for equipment configuration and per path performance monitoring.
