Unit Test 1

Que1: Attempt any three

(9Mks)

1. Define specific gravity and weight density

2. Convert 30 cm of oil column in N/m2. Take specific gravity of oil
1.2.
3. Define Dynamic and kinematic viscocity and write its unit
Que2: Attempt any two

(8Mks)

1. Draw labeled sketch and explain the working of differential U-tube

manometer.
2. An orifice meter with orifice diameter 15 cm is inserted in pipe of
30 cm diameter. The pressure difference measured by mercury oil
differential manometer is 50 cm of Hg. Find rate of flow of oil sp.
Gr. 0.9. Take Cd = 0.64
3. A U- tube manometer is used to measure pressure of oil specific
gravity 0.85 flowing in a pipe line. Its left end is connected to pipe
and right end is open to atmosphere. The center of pipe is 100 mm
below level of mercury in right limb. If difference of mercury level
in two limbs is 160 mm. Find absolute pressure in Kpa. Take
specific gravity of mercury =13.6
Que2: Attempt any two

(8Mks)

1. Draw neat sketch of venturimeter. Why divergent section of

venturimeter is longer that convergent section?
2. A circular plate of diameter 1 m is immersed in a water in such a
way that the least depth of immersion is 0.5 m and maximum depth
of immersion is 1 m. Find the depth of center of pressure.
