Land Acquired: Power Plant 3520 acres (94.47%) Captive Coal Blocks 4281 acres (56.4%). No issue pending in respect of land for power plant. Regarding coal blocks, forest land being taken in phases. NCL yet to handover the land earlier acquired by them under CBA Act. Environment and Forest Clearances: i) Environmental Clearance and Forest Clearance for main Plant: received. ii) iii) iv) Environment Clearance for Coal Mine (Mohar and Mohar Amlohri): received. Forest Clearance for Coal Mine (Mohar and Mohar Amlohri): - received. MoEF vide letter dated 23.11.2012 have accorded stage-I approval for the diversion of 965.400 hectares of forest land in favour of M/s Sasan Ultra Mega Power Project for their Chhatrasal Captive Coal Block (including 30.21 hectares of forest land for infrastructure development) in district Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh. Compliance of Stage-I conditions is yet to be completed.

Project Progress

Power Plant BTG All six Units boiler and ESP foundation completed. Over 2.3 Lakh MT of BTG material shipped by Shanghal Electric. Unit # 3: Synchronized 0n 9.3.2013.. Unit #2: Boiler hydro test completed. Boiler pressure parts erection progress in Unit # 2,#1, #4&#5. Unit #6 Boiler structure erection nearing completion. Turbine Generator (TG) Deck casting completed for Units# 2,# & #4 column lift in progress for Unit #1, # 5 & #6. More than 30,000 MT out of 58,803 MT Power House Building (PHB) and Bunker Structure erection completed for all 6 units.

Captive Coal Block

Coal production commenced. Over 10.76 million cubic meter OB removed. Rope Shovel (43M3): 4 Nos commissioned. Large size Dozer(850-240HP)13 Nos commissioned, Graders (280 HP): 5 Nos commissioned. Dumpers (240 MT): 18 Nos commissioned. Drills (250 mm-160mm):8 Nos commissioned. Water spriklers(70 KL): 4 Nos commissioned. Dragline assembly in progress.

Critical Area: Completion of coal conveyor system from mine to power plant.

Status 90% Boundary work completed. Leveling of site in Main Plant completed. Piling work carried out for Chimney, CW pump house and TG foundation. Ground improvement works done for Cooling Tower Area. Approach road constructed, Area drains, plant roads, permanent stores were taken-up for construction. APSPDCL vide letter dated 15.3.2012 has issued termination notice to CAPL stating that in view of the defaults and anticipatory breach having no alternative, the procurers together decided and elect to terminate the agreement and same shall come into effect from 7th day of receipt of this notice. CAPL vide letter dated 24.3.2012 intimated that they had approached the High Court of Delhi. APSPDCL vide letter dated 20.4.2012 informed that procurers filed counter affidavit on 16.4.2012. The Delhi High Court has dismissed the petition of CAPL on 2.7.2012. CAPL has approached Division Bench, Delhi High Court as well as Indian Arbitrator Council for Arbitration. The matter is sub-judice.

EIA study completed. EAC has considered the proposal in its meeting held on 18th Sept, 2012. iii) Forest Clearance for the Kerandari B&C block: - Proposal submitted at State forest department. Status: Pillaring work completed for project boundary. Mining Plan has been approved by Ministry of Coal. EPC contract executed with R-Infra. BTG tied up with SEC China. However NTP is yet to be issued to BTG supplier as land is yet to be handed over.
