 DRIVING PEACE OF MIND

A clean, efficient driving experience is at the heart of the Citron brand. Our cars are designed to the highest environmental standards and fuel-efficiency is a major priority for our engineers. The Citron C5 takes this even further, ensuring optimised CO2 levels by cutting pollutant emissions with its electronically controlled high pressure direct injection diesel engines, as well as its multi-valve petrol engines.

ENERGY SAVER TYRES

With a reduction in rolling resistance of 20%, Michelins Energy Saver tyres, fitted on 1.6HDi 16V 110hp VTR+ NAV models, reduce the amount of energy needed to propel the car along the road which results in a reduction in the fuel consumption. This is achieved with no loss of grip or stability, with shorter stopping distances in wet conditions. The tyres innovative architecture generates fuel savings of nearly 0.2litres per 100km (in combined cycle), resulting in a reduction in CO2 emissions of nearly 9g/km and around one tonne less CO2 over the entire life of a Citron C5.

FOOT-DOWN WITHOUT THE FOOTPRINT

The Citron C5 offers you a choice of seven engines in all: petrol or diesel, ranging from 110hp to 240hp and the diesel versions are equipped with our award-winning Diesel Particulate Filter System (DPFS) as standard. Excelling in environmental credentials, this DPFS significantly exceeds EU standards, contributing to hugely improved exhaust emissions and virtually eliminating diesel smoke for even more responsible motoring. Each engine has been carefully engineered to meet Euro IV emissions standards or even Euro V for the 2.0HDi 16V 140hp and 3.0HDi V6 240hp models.

It has an advanced braking system with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Emergency Braking Assistance (EBA), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) so you can stay on guard in all conditions. And if you do find yourself in an unexpectedly hairy situation, you can rely on sophisticated added safety measures such as traction control and hazard warning lights activated automatically when the ABS operates.

ADAPT TO IMPACT
With a reinforced outer shell, the Citron C5 has been designed for endurance as well as performance. The front end features upper and lower energy absorbers which provide cushioning on impact, while the cabin structure is also reinforced to create a strong passenger survival cell. In the Citron C5, you and your passengers are obsessively protected from every direction with up to nine airbags cushioning against front, side and head impact. In the passenger seat, theres optional airbag de-activation and importantly for the driver, not only does the steering column retract by 65mm, but thanks to the fixed-centred controls steering wheel, your airbag always deploys at the safest possible angle.

STRENGTH AND POISE

Even when its stopped, the Citron C5 doesnt sleep. Its constantly on alert for dangerous situations, with anti-theft alarm and deadlocks fitted as standard. Automatic re-locking after 30 seconds gives you extra peace of mind, and with protective laminated side windows fitted on Exclusive models to guard against intruders, the Citron C5 is reassuringly defended.

HARNESSING PROTECTION
Even the most basic details such as seat belts have been thoroughly considered. The Citron C5s front seat belts are height-adjustable and fitted with force-limiters. Isofix anchor points are also standard with two on either side of the rear seat. All of which makes the Citron C5 an exceptionally secure place for adults and children.

DETECTION PACKS 1 & 2
With the Citron C5s front and rear parking sensors, the audible warning increases in frequency the nearer you get to an obstacle even sounding from the left or right speaker depending on which side the obstacle is. Meanwhile, the multi-function screen shows six detection zones to warn you of obstacles you wouldnt ordinarily be aware of. Detection packs also include the parking space gap measurement system which scans the necessary spaces before telling you whether the parking manoeuvre is possible, difficult or inadvisable.

NAVIDRIVE PACK AND CONCERT PACK

The NaviDrive Pack available on Exclusive models is the control hub of the Citron C5 and a masterpiece in sophisticated technology. The 30GB hard drive contains 20GB for European mapping, so even as you cross borders you can pinpoint your position exactly. The NaviDrive Pack also provides live traffic updates in the UK and a Bluetooth system. And with the ability to upload hundreds of hours of music onto the 10GB hard drive, you set the soundtrack at the touch of a button no need to change CDs.

XENON DUAL-FUNCTION DIRECTIONAL HEADLAMPS

It includes a significant proportion of recycled or recyclable materials and, like the plant it is named after, it is low on liquid consumption. FIXED-CENTRED CONTROLS STEERING WHEEL
A Citron innovation that makes for safer driving in every way. Whilst the rim of the steering wheel turns normally, the centre hub remains static which means that all the audio, information and driving controls operated from here stay in exactly the same place. It also means that the drivers airbag can be specially sculpted to deploy more favourably than the round ones necessary in cars with conventional steering wheels.

MYWAY COLOUR SATELLITE NAVIGATION

MyWay is completely integrated into the vehicle which avoids the risk of theft. The design has been created for ease of use and with steering wheel controls, navigating from your phone to the satellite navigation couldnt be any easier. MyWay allows you to define routes, stops and places of interest with the added benefit of vocal instruction. MyWay also provides live traffic updates of any congestion spots or delays. A GPS integrated aerial is built into the vehicle, to maximise the reception of satellite information; therefore permitting an accurate location of the car.

PHILIPS HI-FI SYSTEM

The Philips Hi-Fi system has just some of the following features: Dolby surround sound, made to measure acoustics, spatial sounds specially developed and configurated for the passenger compartment, 1 subwoofer, high digital signal processor, digital amplifier and 8 Philips speakers.

ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM (ABS)

Computer-controlled braking assistance designed to prevent the wheels from locking under extreme braking. This enables the car to continue being steered and therefore controlled during this braking incident. The Citron C5s ABS system is further enhanced with EBA and EBD (see below).

DOUBLE WISHBONE FRONT SUSPENSION

Usually deployed on performance and sports cars, this double arm set up on each of the front wheels allows the engineers much more control over the wheels camber as it rises and falls whilst in motion. It means that driving dynamics are improved dramatically, especially under load in cornering and accelerating.

BLUETOOTH SYSTEM WITH USB BOX

Integrated Bluetooth hands-free phone function with dashboard-integrated USB socket and jack to plug in a portable MP3 player. Menu navigation and music selection via steering-mounted and dashboard radio controls, with song titles displayed on the radio screen.

A dynamic AFS with lamps that respond to the steering, adjusting the direction of the beam in the direction of the turn by up to 15 degrees. These headlamps contain a directional twin xenon elliptical module for use in the dipped and full-beam positions, and a complex surface long-range halogen unit for full-beam only. This combined assembly delivers an extremely high level of forward visibility.

XENON DUAL-FUNCTION DIRECTIONAL HEADLAMPS WITH CORNERING LIGHTS

A conventional ABS system cannot account for any of the four wheels wanting to lock more quickly than the others (for example, two of the wheels may be on snow and two on tarmac). EBD reads the deceleration rate of each wheel individually and applies the ABS principles accordingly.

ELECTRONIC BRAKEFORCE DISTRIBUTION (EBD)

EMERGENCY BRAKING ASSISTANCE (EBA)

As drivers we find it difficult to instinctively brake very hard, but this is often what is needed in those rare emergency situations. The EBA system recognises our attempt to brake hard and in combination with the ABS and EBD systems instantly applies the maximum stopping power possible.

MULTI-LINK REAR SUSPENSION

Differs from the front suspension set up (described above) in that there are multiple links to the wheel instead of two. Each of these links has a specific load role (lateral, camber, twist etc.) and can be adjusted infinitely by the engineers to achieve the best combination of ride comfort and driving dynamics.

HIGH-PRESSURE DIRECT INJECTION DIESEL ENGINE

Our HDi diesel engines operate with the fuel under extremely high pressure, enabling microscopically precise injection control. With this level of management its possible to inject at different times during the same engine stroke allowing total control over the combustion process. This has allowed our engineers to reduce carbon monoxide emissions by 40%, unburned hydrocarbons by 50% and engine particulates by 60%. Fuel consumption is 20% lower than a prechamber diesel engine, resulting in an equivalent reduction in CO2 emissions and thanks to the torque available at low engine speed it could be argued that driveability is now better than in petrol engined cars.

LANE DEPARTURE WARNING SYSTEM (LDWS)

When Citron C5 is travelling at speeds in excess of 50mph infrared sensors at the front of the car detect the white lines on the road. If the car starts to cross a white line without the indicator being on the driver is alerted by the vibration device built into his seat.

ELECTRONIC STABILITY PROGRAMME (ESP)

This is computer-controlled traction assistance and is provided primarily through the braking systems. The ESPs control unit constantly compares where the driver intends going (through the position of the steering wheel) with where the vehicle is actually going and, if necessary, makes speed corrections to each wheel individually through braking or engine torque to keep the vehicle in line.

HYDRACTIVE 3+ SUSPENSION
An outstanding Citron invention built on the companys renowned hydropneumatic sphere platform, Hydractive 3+ suspension offers the ultimate in driver control and passenger comfort. To begin with, the car maintains a constant ride height at all times regardless of load (either weight or force) which ensures excellent driver control. In addition, electronic sensors read the road and driving style hundreds of times a second and adapt the hydraulic damping accordingly, maintaining perfect poise. The driver is also able to select two different suspension modes designed for varying degrees of comfort or sporty driving. The system is maintenance free for five years or 200,000km.

ADAPTIVE FRONT-LIGHTING SYSTEM (AFS)

Designed specifically to aid safety when driving in the dark, Citron C5s static AFS provides an extra light at the front when turning a corner at low speeds. Also, see Xenon dual-function Directional Headlamps with cornering lights for dynamic afs.

DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER SYSTEM (DPFS)

Our unique DPFS collects exhaust particulates (soot) that would have been bound for the air around us and burns them off at 550 degrees C. This means that black smoke is eliminated completely. And because the filter is constantly burning the particulates it is self-cleaning and requires no maintenance.

ISOFIX
A standardised and more simple method for installing child seats, each seat is clicked into place via a three point system. On the Citron C5, Isofix is installed on the two outer rear seats and the front passenger seat (on SX two outer rear seats only).
