Ingleby Mill Primary School Newsletter April 2014

schools/academies in Stockton. They wanted to see what we do to prepare children for the next steps in their learning and visited every classroom in school from Nursery to Y6. They were highly complimentary about the standards of work in pupils books and on display, about the behaviour and attitudes of the children throughout school and about the skilled teaching they observed. Updated Behaviour Policy Our updated policy is now available for viewing on the schools website. Copies are available for viewing in the school office. End of Term 2 Assessments Teachers have been collating information about how much progress each child has made since September and where each child is in relation to national expectations and their own end of year targets. As the Easter holiday is seventeen days long, please keep up with reading, multiplication tables/number bond practice and any homework that may be given. Doing a little work each day minimises learning loss and does help children to slip back into school routines more readily. Your support with this is much appreciated.

Welcome to the April newsletter. We have much to celebrate and have information to share with you in advance of the school breaking for the Easter holidays on Friday!

Sporting News: Some of our swimmers took part in the Stockton Swimming Gala. Very well done to Lexi Parker and Jake Smith who both won Silver Medals in their individual races and to our Y5 Relay Team who came an impressive third! Our Y6 Footballers are now Tees Valley Champions. They had the privilege of playing at MFCs training ground in Hurworth opposite teams from all over the region. Not only did they win but they were outstanding ambassadors for our school, showing great attitudes and sportsmanship. Congratulations to team members Ben Beals, Oliver Clennett, Jake Brown, Mason Thornton, Alfie Croft, Muneeb Akram, Jack Smith, Will Purves, Eddie Hamblett and Kofi Marley. Thanks and congratulations too must go to their coach, our very own Mr Dunn! We are now the proud owners of a signed MFC football (available for viewing in the trophy cabinet) whilst each of the boys was awarded a medal, a certificate and photographs of their time in the tournament. Sport Relief You helped us raise the very impressive sum of 582.50 for this very worthy cause. Children ran the Sport Relief Mile around the playground and watched video clips of how the money is used to support charities at home and overseas. Thank you for your support! Visitors to School We have welcomed large numbers of visitors to school over the past fortnight, all teachers/school leaders who wanted to look at what we do to make our school the very special place it is. Two weeks ago we welcomed eleven teachers from different schools in Holland into school. They observed lessons in Y6 and Y3, looking specifically at how we teach children to think and solve problems. They were suitably impressed and were full of praise for the teaching they saw. Last week we were visited by twelve Deputy/Assistant Head Teachers and Leaders of Learning from different secondary

Attendance
Our school attendance currently stands at 97% which is the highest it has ever been. This term there are over 300 children on track to achieve 100% attendance a great effort. Very well done!
