Since its inception, JSAW has grown manifold to set operational benchmarks in the manufacturing sector. With its integrated facilities at multiple locations in India and an ever expanding market opportunity, it diversified from a single product company to a multi-product company, manufacturing large diameter Submerged Arc Welded pipes, Seamless pipes & Ductile Iron Pipes. Ductile Iron Pipes were introduced in the year 2005. Now, its product portfolio is diversified across end user segments like energy transportation, industrial application and water & sewerage transportation. JSAW has witnessed rapid expansion in recent years both in terms of capacity augmentation as well as the diversification of its product portfolio. As a result of this expansion, the focus of the company shifts to multiple industries. The large diameter pipes segment will cater to the transportation of oil and gas, while seamless tubes will largely address the needs of key infrastructure sectors like power, chemicals, oil & gas, etc. The Ductile Iron pipes will address the urban infrastructure segment, and in particular, the need for transportation of potable water and waste water.

Besides these, JSAW also provides various value added products and services like anti-corrosion coatings for pipe and bends, bends and connector casings to all its national and international clients.

The nine state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities of Jindal SAW Ltd. are located

at 4 places in India (Table 1). The first plant was set up in Kosi Kalan in U.P to manufacture SAW Pipes using U-O-E process. Later, a coating plant was also added here. At Nashik (Maharashtra), the company has one plant, engaged in the manufacture of Seamless pipes and tubes. There are two manufacturing bases in Mundra (Gujarat). Mundra-I, which is 100% Export Oriented Unit, has two plants to manufacture SAW Pipes and Helical( Spirally Welded) pipes and third plant for coating. Mundra II, the second base, has three more plants. While two plants are dedicated for the production of SAW pipes, the third one produces Ductile Iron Spun Pipes with its own blast furnace and a coke oven plant.

Ductile Iron (DI) Pipes
Ductile pipes are primarily used in water and sewage transportation. DI Spun pipes market services the fastest growing water and waste water transportation segment. The main buyers of these products are government bodies & state municipal corporations that require installing them for their various public water supply and sewage schemes. Fast growing & rising population in the country has resulted in an increase in the demand for safe water which in turn has increased the demand for transporting good quality water from potential sources to distant cities without contaminating it Hence the demand of DI Pipes. Thus, in line with the strategic thinking of being a Total Pipe Solution Company and after reigning its supremacy in Energy transportation sector, JSAW entered in Ductile Iron Spun pipes market to service the fast growing water and waste transportation segment. The Integrated Greenfield project (IPU) of Ductile Iron pipe and pig iron unit is located at Samaghogha in Mundra, close to Mundra and Kandla ports. This portbased facility includes: Coke oven battery plant (installed capacity: 200,000 MT/annum) Blast furnace (installed capacity: 300,000 MT/annum) DI facility (installed capacity: 300,000 MT/annum) The company has also set up a sinter plant at Samaghogha to enable usage of iron ore fines instead of lumps. Quality checks are done at every stage of the manufacturing process to create a product of international standards. The plant having its own Blast Furnace manufacturing unit (MBF) provides for a steady and continuous feed of raw material to the casting unit. The works is established with an advanced pollution control systems that makes the unit completely environmental friendly, maintaining natural ecology of the area DI pipes manufactured by the company vary in diameter ranging from 80mm1,000mm, the standard length being 5.5 meters and 6 meters. The product conforms to both Indian Standard IS: 8329 and International Standards ISO: 2531 and BS: EN: 545 & BS: EN: 598 accredited with ISO: 9001 Certification enabling the company to cater to the Indian and global markets. It has many more dimensions: Quality of thought, Quality of action, Quality of people, and above all, Quality of products and processes. This dedication to quality has enabled JSAW to become the first pipe mill in the country to get API and ISO 9001:2000 certification, along with ISO 14001 certification for environmental management system standards and ISO 18001 certificate for occupational health & safety management systems.
