CODE FOR PATRONS
The Chugiak PT.\ io once again
offering the children an op-
portuni ty to vie\'/ twice month-
l y movies.
This ms thanks to the efforts
of several volunteers, 11ho
take the time to schedule the
pick up and deliver
films, take tickets and in gen-
eral monitor the entire proc-
eedings.
The movie committee this year,
is not looking for any boquets
for their but they 11ould
appreciate it if a fel'l simple
rules \'lcre folloued by the
parents of their :-toung pat-
rons.
The main complaint
years has been, that parents
\'lho drop their chi ldrcn off
at the school to the mov-
ie, sometimes are not on hand
to pick them up. the show
is over.
This means that some member
of the commi ttec r.1ust remain
at the school sometimes long
after the sho,., is over in or-
der that these youngsters are
not left alone on the cold
dark school grounds. This
seems an imposition on some-
one \'lho has already given
mhrc than enough of their
(movies)
on their own, giving the
committee members the ad-
ditional duties of babysit-
ters.
It would be nice if the
members of the community
could their apprec-
iation to these volunteers
by adopting a simple code
of movie behavior.
The are aver short-
ly after 9pm. That is the
time that parents should be
\'lai ting to pick up their ch-
ildren it is much easier to
\'lai t a fe1'1 minutes in your
heated car for the shm1 to
let out, than for a youngs-
ter to lmi t out on the cold
dark schoolgrounds.
And if junior is on the
small side, send his ld th
an brother or sister
or neighbor child; or bet-
ter still come on dO\m ,.,i th
him and enjoy some of the
excellent shows that the
movie committee has planned.

It seems that ,.,i th the freez-

many have suddenly remembered
that Se\'ler system that they
planned to put in this sum-

To those who have been shop-

STATE SE:A::1CHES FOR LAND
A search fdr land patented
to the State that is suit-
able for agriculture took
place during July and .i.ugust,
according to a report in the
August of "Alaska Land
Lines," a puhli of the
Department Resour-
ces.
Inspection of soil survey
maps and lanGs in the area
nonth of the Little Susitna
River and south of Deception
Creek disclosed that most of
that area which is in the
part of the Hatanuska
Valley is poorly suited for
farming.
Underneath a shallot'! layer
of litter the actual soil con-
sists of gravel ceme1ted to-.
gether by glacial silt.
These lands are definitely
not suitable for agriculture
and the search agricultural
la.nd \'lill con-tinue during the
coming months in the hope
that suitable land can be
made available for homestead-
ing under the State's land
regulations as soon as pos-
sible.
