Introduction: Youth Coordinator
Coordinator reminds children in the last session they learnt the purpose of prayer or what
to pray for, using the acronym ACTS. He/she explains that today they will learn another
way of spending time with God, called Lectio Divina.
Co ordinator explains to children what Lectio Divina is using website:
http://www.cominghome.org.au/practice/dsp-default-d.cfm?loadref=132
(Catholic Education Diocese of Townsville, 2014)
The Coordinator follows the explanation by asking for any questions or clarifications that
children might like to raise.

Scripture
The Coordinator outlines to the children that today they are going to read a very familiar
passage titled Luke 11:1-13 Jesus teaches the disciples to pray.
The website below is used to conduct Lectio Divina for the gathered group
http://soulshepherding.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Jesus-Shows-Us-How-to-
Pray.pdf
(Gaultiere, 2014)
Youth Coordinator poses the following discussion questions:
1) What did you find interesting about that process?
2) How did it make you feel?
3) Have you had this experience before? Where?
4) Would you like to have more of Lectio divina in our sessions?
Conclusion: Youth Coordinator
Cordinator concludes today we learnt about Lectio Divina a powerful way to pray the
Scriptures with God: We already know God wants to be involved in our lives on a daily
basis, so we need to pray, read our Bibles and acknowledge He is with us every day in all
that we do. Our world is His gift to us. It is our reminder of His presence.
5:15 Scripture game
Jig saw Scripture.
Children and parents pick from a hat a Scripture word from The Our Father, then try to
find all the corresponding words that can be put together to recreate the whole prayer
Closing prayer: Gather round sacred space and while reflective music plays in the
background pray together The Our Father.
