This article Global Virtual Teams (GVTs) of Dub, Line and Par, Guy is discussing about the
challenges and strategies they found out from interviewing Global virtual team leaders and
members about GVTs across different countries. Basically, article is giving an insight about
virtual teams issues and their solution which are now widely used in any organization today.
These GVTs is different from localized teams in lot of different aspects. As GVTs members are
extended across different countries they rarely meet face-to-face during the course of their
project and due to that they may run in to enormous problems such as miscommunication,
missing deadlines, cultural barriers, technical issues, etc. Secondly, it is very important to invest
in right technology for GVTs to work efficiently otherwise it could be a big roadblock in success
of the project. Along with new technology it is also important to train all GVTs member and
make them feel comfortable with new technology which will help the project to achieve its goal.
Sometime with best technology in place GVTs leaders has to also consider about other issues
such as cultural difference or a lack of physical interaction and as per article this can be solved
by doing a videoconferencing for the initial meeting. Finally, GVTs is a challenging job for GVT
members and especially for GVTs leader because a project leader not only focuses on project but
he also need to be mindful of different team members and the barriers of that project gets it due
to being a Global Virtual team.

Article 1: Global Virtual Teams
According to my perception, Dub, Line and Par, Guy has given a very good insight of Global
virtual teams. I think it is very challenging job to be a part of Global Virtual team member or a
leader because it has so many difficulties such language barrier, cultural differences,
communication issues, and technology proficiency. My personal preference would be to work as
face-to-face, but I know that in todays world if you want to grow then you have to be flexible to
reach your goals.

Article 2: Critical Success Factors for Global Virtual Teams

Jenny Goodbody has done a fabulous job describing detail success road map for a global virtual
team along with her personal experience and insight to all global virtual teams, organizations,
schools and all other places where they work in virtual team formation. I personally believe that
the three categories she gave Team formation, Trust and collaboration, and Team communication
is very essential in every virtual team, even in our class group project it is critical success factor
to be mindful off.
