Personal Caricature Assignment Guidelines & Rubric
Caricature = An exaggerated portrayal of the weaknesses, frailties, unique, or humorous
aspects of an individual or group. Goal: Create a personal caricature where you exaggerate the inner qualities that make you UNIQUE! Guidelines: 4 Inner Qualities: This caricature should focus on exaggerating (at least) 4 inner qualities that make you unique (EXAMPLE: If you feel you are a good listener, you might include large ears in your caricature to symbolize this personal strength)
WARNING: Your caricature must represent your INNER qualities; do NOT focus on physical traits! Caricatures that ONLY focus on physical traits will receive NO CREDIT!
Visual: Your caricature must be visually engaging. You may create your caricature using the following methods: - Drawing - Clip Art (several images put together to make YOU) - Magazine Clippings (several images put together to make YOU) - Google Images (several images put together to make YOU) OR A combination of these methods (hint: you could start with a picture of yourself and add onto it, or add various printed images to a drawing- be creative!)
WARNING: You MAY NOT use a single printed image/or pre-owned caricature drawing for this assignment.
Format/Color: Your caricature must fill up the entire side of a standard sheet of WHITE computer paper. (Avoid white space!)
Complete Name: You must include your NAME (first and last) as the title of your caricature.
Paragraph Explanation: Write a paragraph addressing the following topics. Upload to TIIC: 1. MLA Heading on the top LEFT CORNER 2. Title (be creative - choose a title that represents YOU) 3. A 1 paragraph explanation of your caricature including the following: - Explain the 4 inner qualities (minimum) that you chose to depict in your visual - Explain how you chose to represent these qualities in your caricature- what do the details of your visual symbolize? - In the conclusion of your paragraph, explain at least 1 thing you feel you have learned about yourself after completing this assignment (Are you a well-rounded person? Are there any inner traits that you would like to work on/gain? Did you face any challenges with this assignment?)
