Dear Ms. Rodgers
We are looking forward to welcoming you and the students from Doha College to India. It will be our endeavor to show the students an active, fun and safe time in India. We are sending you some general information for the trip.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Some DOs and DONTs to ensure a safe and fun time
Dos: Please do be careful at public places like railway stations. Look out for your bags and for your friends and stay together as groups. Please keep your hand bag/ moneybag in front of your body to ward off pickpockets. Please do be sun safe. Please use caps/sun block etc and drink plenty of water Do inform teachers/ Snow Leopard Adventures escorts of any medical problem Do be punctual at all times Do follow all safety instructions and be suitably geared for the days adventure activity Do respect the environment and keep your surroundings clean. Please be eco- sensible and follow the rules of the great outdoors, take nothing but photographs and leave nothing but footprints. In camp: o Be careful about the ropes around the tents o Leave the toilet clean for the next person o Do ensure all litter is disposed off sensibly. Waste bins are kept all over the camp. o Ensure that your tents are zipped when not in use DONTs: Please dont wander off alone without telling teachers/ trip escorts especially while on the train. While traveling on trains:- o Please dont visit toilets when the train has stopped at a station. o Please dont get off on any en route railway platform o Please dont move from one compartment to another Please avoid bringing any expensive or valuable items to the camp. Please dont carry any valuable items during adventure activities. Please dont litter.
LIST OF THINGS TO BRING:
PLEASE NOTE: Students are requested to pack their belongings in lockable rucksacks/ duffle bags, as they are easier to carry on treks.
1. Hand Sanitizers 2. Enough personal clothes for the trip 3. T-shirts/ sweat shirts 4. Light weight long trousers (no shorts during trek) 5. Warm long-sleeve shirt 6. Woolen cap 7. Good Thermal Gloves 8. Wind proof jackets 9. Rain gear (a must) 10. Warm clothes, thick jacket especially for mornings and evenings. 11. A knapsack for the trek to carry your water bottle, camera and rain gear, and pack lunch. 12. Water bottle for the trek 13. 2 pairs of shoes (well worn not new) Rubber- soled ankle length shoes recommended. 14. Sun glasses, cap, sun block/lip balm 15. Retainers for spectacles/ sun glasses 16. Camera with extra batteries/ film 17. Flashlight with extra batteries & Bulb (Best suitable LED head lamp). 18. Reading & writing material 19. Personal Toiletries & medical kit 20. YOUR SENSE OF HUMOUR!
MINIMUM IMPACT ON LOCAL CULTURE:
Please do respect local customs and traditions specially while visiting local villages and religious places. Guests should be modestly clad specially while crossing villages, towns and inhabited areas and while camping at beaches close to villages/ towns. Cotton trousers/ Capri pants/ Shirts/ t-shirts/ half sleeve shirts are recommended. Please do not encourage begging by giving money, sweets etc to the locals. Just a polite traditional folding of hands and saying `namaste' will do. Photographs should be taken only after seeking permission of the people concerned.
GRATUITIES/ TIPPING:
Tipping junior staff is a common practice in India to show your appreciation of services well rendered. You can do individual tipping to porters at hotels you visit or the drivers with you. However, please do not tip Snow Leopard Adventures staff individually. The tip can be handed over to the Trip Leader at the end of the trip.
TRANSFERS:
Our representative will accompany you on your entire trip while you are in India. Upon your arrival, our team members will receive you at the airport.
