    PRESS RELEASE

    DOHA COLLEGE CELEBRATES QATAR CULTURAL DAY WITH OOREDO SPONSORSHIP

    Celebrating the imminent Qatar National Day, Doha Colleges A2 Applied Business students thanks
    to sponsorship from Ooredoo organised and hosted Qatar Cultural Day to celebrate and share
    Qatars culture, traditions and future plans with Doha College students and to raise money for The
    Charity Committee.

    The event engaged the entire student body, including staff, who competed within their House
    Teams and participated in six cultural based activities. These were designed to suit every taste and
    included symbolic Qatari cupcake decorating, Arabic calligraphy demonstrations, a scavenger hunt,
    2022 football competition and a photo and video booth using Qatar themed props and a falcon
    with his trainer from Katara Falcon Centre.

    Traditional Arabic delicacies were for sale such as Karak, Shawarmas, kunafa and homemade
    Machboos. Thanks to generous support from local companies and restaurants, students were able
    to enjoy refreshments from the Karak and Chapatti restaurant, Aspire Katara Hospitality, Red
    Velvet Cupcakery and the Mercure Hotel.

    Using resources supplied by Katara Arts Centre,
    Head of Arabic Mr Chawki Nacef taught
    students the traditional calligraphic art which
    allowed students to explore the Qatari language
    in a fun and creative way. Henna provided by
    the Al Rayyan salon was a popular treat for the
    female students and the Qatar Falcon Center brought in a traditional falcon for students to hold.

    The 2022 football competition and scavenger hunt suited active and sporty students. To celebrate
    Qatar winning the 2022 World Cup, a penalty shoot-out occurred on the Doha College pitch where
    students battled it out to score goals. The scavenger hunt was an exciting activity for students who
    followed clues to collect items around the College.

    Doha Colleges Senior Vice Principal Teresa Woulfe stated, We are exceptionally proud of our Year
    13 students who planned, organised and executed Qatar Cultural Day. The success of the day was
    due to careful planning, hard work and tenacity. This was a wonderful and fitting way to finish a
    fantastic term at Doha College.

    The celebrations were a massive success


    thanks to the event planners Amna AlNasser, Alexandria Lee, Paul Meichsner
    and Natalia Faisal, and special thanks to Jas
    sim Al Thani for his support with the
    sponsors. The students were all extremely
    positive with how the event went and
    worked well together to make it a success.

    They had never done
    anything like this before so it was a great learning opportunity
    and they had full control of the event.

    Jassim Al Thani stated, I think it went really well. The students were very excited, especially the
    younger ones because of the fun activities we had planned for them. As a Qatari national it makes
    me feel proud to be showing other nationalities our heritage and culture.

    Anam Al-Nasser echoed, I really enjoyed the cultural aspect of this task and infusing Qatari
    culture into Doha College. We educated the students on Qatars history and cultural and I hope
    this becomes an annual event.
