Thestartingpointforeverypaper,beitatermpaperoryourBAthesis,shouldbeathoroughlyworkedout
researchproposal.Investingsufficienttimeandthoughtintowritingaresearchproposalwillyieldagoodreturn
andcansaveyoualotoftime,confusionanddisappointmentwhenactuallywritingyourpaper.
Aresearchproposalservesseveralpurposes:
Itgivesanoverviewoftherelevanceandobjectiveofaresearchproject.
Itgivesanoverviewofthecontent,theprocedureandthetimingofaresearchproject.
Itshowswhetheraresearchprojectismanageableinscopeandtiming.

Thefollowingsectionsgiveanoverviewofeachcomponent.Althougheachresearchproposalshouldfollow
thisguideline,youwillfindthatnotallsectionsare(equally)applicableforeachproject,sinceeveryresearch
projectisdifferent.Forinstance,athesisthatfocusesonaliteraturerevieworatheoreticalanalysisrequiresa
somewhatdifferentresearchproposalthanathesisthatreportsanempiricalstudy.Identifytheaspectsineach
sectionthatarerelevanttoyourproject.Intotal,theresearchproposalshouldnotexceed45pages.Useful
