Acquaintance Party 2014: A Sense of Harmony

People Center, Tacloban City From the core theme Continuing the Thrust
for Evangelization, Benedictine Education and Care for the Environment,
one of the most celebrated event for Scholasticans took place last July 19,
2014 to establish camaraderie and unity in the community.
Scholasticans clad in colourful dresses and sleek tuxedos strutted their walk
with confidence after registration was initiated prior the opening of the
event.
The SSCT Theater Arts in consort with selected first year Midwifery students
and Scholastican Psalterion, the schools official choir, orchestrated a
doxology in rendition to a popular song, Lead me Lord to give grace to the
event.
To officially open the event formal, Sr. Josefina Nepomuceno, OSB, the
Superior of Benedictine Sisters in St. Scholasticas College Tacloban (SSCT) in
lieu of Sr. Julia Yap, OSB, the institutions President, gave an insightful
welcoming remarks.
Induction of New Officers
Mrs. Ma. Liezel Molon, MAT, LL.B, moderator of the Scholastican Electoral
Commission (SCHOLEC), officially presented the newly elected Student
Council (SC) of the institution; Ms. Stephanie Villamor, President; Ms. Nina
Grace Germinal, Vice President; Ms. Aimee Joi Cuanso, SC Secretary; Mr.
Rodney Subaran, Treasurer, Ms. Desiree Astorga, Auditor; Mr. Louie Relevo,
P.I.O., and the year level representative; Mr. Justin Allan Pelobello (4th Year),
Mr. Nicasio Maquilan III (3rd year), Ms. Catherine Acquiatan, (2nd year) and Ms.
Hermileen Corda (1st year).
Afterwards, she conducted an oath taking ceremony of the above stated
officers.
The SC 2013 Vice President, Mr. Danver Moquia, turned over the gavel and
medallion of duty to Ms. Stephanie Villamor, 4th year Pharmacy student in
symbolism of her acceptance of obligation.
The presentation of the various student organization and class Presidents
and oath taking of its members and moderators were facilitated by Mrs.
Liezel Molon and Mr. Gerrydel Corres, RN, SSCT Students Affairs Office Head.

Certificates of recognition were distributed to the moderator and president of


the various academic and co-curricular organizations in the college by Dr.
Antonio Lim Jr., FPASMAP, SSCT Vice President for Academic Affairs.
Meet and Greet
Awards were given according to categories of events.
The early bird award is an award given to Scholastican who arrived the
earliest amongst the entire studentry and were given to Mr. Christopher
Billes, 3rd year MLS student and Ms. Johanna Marie Dobuyan, 1st year MLS
student respectively.
The best dressed faculty member is an award objectively given to a faculty
member/s who displayed his/her attire with full confidence according to
specification therein and were awarded to Dr. Antonio E. Lim Jr. and Ms. Lesly
Ann Nicolas, faculty of the Pharmacy Department.
Dr. Lim said when receiving the award, Actually, it is my wife who prepared
my outfit for today.
The faculty, staff and maintenance presented a song number entitled, Top
of the World popularized by the Carpenters which made the students
wooed.
Going Further
After the dance craze where Scholasticans go gaga to the electrifying beats
of the sound system and psychedelic light effects, another set of special
awards were given.
The Mr. and Ms. Freshies is judged according to their overall charm and
personality in collecting monetary means in funding SC projects for school
year 2014-2015 and the awards were given to Mr. Edward Jao and Ms. Raiza
Mae Delgado, both from the Pharmacy Department.
The best presentation in all of the presentation delivered in the event was
the duet of Mr. Radian Tinaya, 3rd year MLS student and Ms. Glyde Cruz, 2nd
year MLS student who sung a romantic rendition of Moments of Love.

The best dressed male and female is an award given to a student/a staff who
dressed to impress in the event accompanied with utmost confidence and
was given to Mr. Khalil Zaldua, 2nd year MLS student and Ms. Ma. Casey
Revez, 4th year Pharmacy student, for student category respectively and Mr.
Judy Abanador, AVRC Staff and Ms, Evangeline Bocateja, Registrar Staff, for
the staff and maintenance category respectively.
The King and Queen of the Dance floor are awards given to male and female
students who exude grace, expertise and technicalities in dancing while the
Dance Revolution commenced and were crowned to Mr. Ethan Talagon, 2nd
Nursing student and Ms. Jona Mae Angas, 2nd year Pharmacy student
respectively.
Endings
Dr. Antonio E. Lim Jr. closed the curtains by delivering his closing remarks
thereby closing the event formally.
The event would never be as successful without the quirky partners in crime,
Ms. Frances Eunice Alcober, 4th year MLS student and Mr. Danilo Tiozon, 4th
year Pharmacy student, who were both emcees in the said event.
