Who is the course for?


The NEBOSH National General Certificate is designed for managers, supervisors, safety staff, and employee representatives from all
types of organisation who need a broad understanding of health and safety issues to be able to manage risks and carry out their
functions effectively.
Many larger organisations choose the NEBOSH National General Certificate as a key part of their management or supervisors
development programme. Smaller organisations, operating in lower risk environments, often choose the NEBOSH National General
Certificate as the appropriate qualification for the manager taking the lead on health and safety issues.
The course is also suitable for those embarking on a career in health and safety, providing a valuable foundation for further
professional study (such as the NEBOSH National Diploma).
Holders of the National General Certificate are entitled to Associate Membership (AIOSH) of the Institution of Occupational Safety
and Health (IOSH). The qualification also meets the academic requirements for Technician Membership (Tech IOSH) of IOSH and
Associate Membership (AIIRSM) of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM).
Students will need access to the web via a broadband connection.

take appropriate action.

Course Duration
Minimum of 125 study hours
Students should complete their study hours, exercises and final examinations within 6 months of purchase.
Students may be subject to AOSH re-registration fees after this 6 month period.

Assessment and Certification

Unit NGC1 and Unit GC2 are each assessed by a 2 hour written examination. The GC3 practical application can
be word processed, and is to be completed in a workplace situation and returned to AOSH within 1 week of the examination day.
NEBOSH issue a qualification certificate once a Candidate has achieved at least a Pass grade in all three Units.
Examinations held in March / June / September / December.
