Title of Lesson: Spy Tools
Tier 2:
Spy a person who secretly collects and reports information on the activities,
movements, and plans of an enemy
Message a verbal, written, or recorded way of communicating something to
someone
Tier 3:
Jigsaw a puzzle with a picture on it cut into many pieces of different shapes
that have to be fitted together
Critical Thinking Skills (Reading, Writing, Speech, Listening)
Students will analyze the literature.
Students will read the literature aloud.
Students will answer critical thinking questions.
Assessments (Performance Tasks/Tests/Quizzes Formative/Summative,
Informal/Formal)
I will informally assess the students by listening to each student read aloud. I
will also ask critical thinking questions and informally assess the students
based on their answers and any other discussion topics that are talked about.

Set up:
o The vocab words with their definitions must be already written on the white board
and visible for the students to see.
Pg. 12 how do you think using a coin that looks the same as other coins
could be a problem for a spy?
Pg. 14 why do you think its important for spies to keep things a secret?
Step 4: (8 min)
o Have students take turns reading each page of the book aloud.
Step 5: (4 min)
o Ask the students if they have learned anything new about spies or spying.
