Model Description

This example uses the


MDI_Demo_Vehicle model in
combination with an Ftire
property file
(ftire_205_55R16.tir)

Steps for Running Example


1. Start Adams/Car 2014.
2. Open the MDI_Demo_Vehicle assembly.
3. Right-click the wheels and change the tire property file to
ftire_205_55R16.tir for both front and rear tires using the Modify Wheel
dialog box:

4. For animation of the FTire forces in the Postprocessor Windows, the .ogl
Cosin Animation File is required. Click on Settings Solver Output,
and set the Cosin Animation File (.ogl) to Yes:

5. Perform a full vehicle acceleration analysis, by filling out the box as


shown below, then select OK.

6. Switch to Adams/Postprocessor by clicking Review - Postprocessing


Window and load the animation by clicking View - Load Animation in
the Postprocessing Window.
7. Go to the new Tire/Road tab and check the Display Overlay
Animation check box.
8. The ogl animation is now overlaid on the Adams animation. The wheel
assembly of the Adams model is hidden and the tires from the ogl file are
shown.

9. The Select Axle Select Tire option menu under Overlay Animation
Settings can be used to animate only the selected tire/axle from the ogl
file. Selecting Axle1 causes the front tires to be displayed from the ogl
file and the rear tires from the Adams model.

10. Switch to a two view layout using the Page Layout option. Right click on
the second view and select Load Video File from the pop-up menu.
11. Select the generated ogl file from the working directory in the file
selection dialog box that opens. The ogl is loaded and animated while the
Adams animation is shown in the other view.

12. Rotate the view with the ogl file loaded, as shown below, to better
visualize the tire forces.

13. Uncheck the Display Tire Forces check box under Video File
Animation Settings. The tire forces are no longer displayed in the video
file animation view. Checking it again will bring back the tire forces.

14. Uncheck the Display Rim check box under Video File Animation
Settings. The rims are no longer displayed in the video file animation
view. Checking it again will bring back the rims.
15. The Select Axle Select Tire option menu under Video File Animation
Settings can be used to display only the selected tire/axle.
