CAREER CENTER INTERNSHIP PROGRAMS


The Career Planning & Placement Center is offering two great summer internship programs for 2010,
Dream Dollars and The Scheyer Family Scholarship.

The Dream Dollars Program is a unique “scholarship” program for undergraduates. The USC Dream
Dollars Program provides stipends for USC students who receive internships with a non-profit or
government organization. This program will support students hoping to gain work experience from an
unpaid internship. Students will be selected through an application and interview process. All internships
must be a minimum of six weeks during the summer. The program provides a stipend of $1,200 for each
student. For more information please stop by the Internship Programs Office in STU B-1or attend the
information session on March 2nd, 1-1:30pm in STU B-3.

The Scheyer Family Scholarship for Summer Interns, established in December of 2007, will provide an
award of $2,500.00 to two students enrolled in approved summer internships. Preference will be given to
sophomores, juniors or seniors with demonstrated financial need. Student recipients must have a major in
the USC College of Letters, Arts & Sciences and must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Students
must be in good academic standing and must have a graduation date between December 2010 and May
2013. Students must have an internship prior to applying for this scholarship. For more information please
stop by the Internship Programs Office in STU B-1 or attend the information session on March 23rd,
12-12:30pm in STU B-3.

COMPANY PROFILE EVENTS


During the academic semesters, we invite employers to conduct company presentations. We strongly
recommend that you attend these information sessions to learn about different industries and
organizations, as well as meet some of their key employees. Over the next week DaVita, Macy’s,

PAID INTERNSHIPS
 NBA – Summer Internships
Our Summer Internship Program is a hands-on opportunity for enrolled college students to build their
work experience and learn the behind-the-scenes operations of the NBA. Over the 10-week program,
summer interns participate in a series of events and activities exposing them to the many facets of the
NBA’s business. Applicant placement within an NBA Department is based on interest, experience,
academic achievement and the NBA’s business needs. All positions are located at NBA League
offices in either New York City (midtown Manhattan) or Secaucus, New Jersey. To qualify for the
Program, students must be enrolled in a college or university at the undergraduate level and be in
their sophomore or junior year. All students must be in good academic standing and have basic
computer skills, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills.

 Eli Lilly – Pharmaceutical Sales Intern

 Attack! Marketing & Promotions – Marketing Intern


Attack! Marketing & Promotions is looking for a Marketing Intern to work with our Account
Management and Program Management department, assisting in day to day operations. This is a
great opportunity to learn the inner workings of a Marketing Agency working in a fun office
environment. This opportunity will take all your learning and add to it the real world experiences
needed to progress in a marketing career. You will have hands-on experience in the day to day
operations at Attack! General Responsibilities include, but not limited to conducting online
marketing, research, recruiting and postings. Management and Monitoring of entertainment and social
networking sites. Conducting research on projects; create location lists and schedules for projects in a
concise readable form. Candidates should be marketing and/or Events focused. Should be great on the
computer, internet research, typing, etc. Should be outgoing, friendly and interested in learning more
about the world of Event Marketing and Promotions. Ideal candidate would be able to work between
Monday through Friday, at least 2 days per week, from 10am-5pm (we will work with your school

 Attack! Marketing & Promotions – Sales Intern


Attack! is looking for a Sales Intern to work with our Client Services departments assisting in day to
day operations. This is a great opportunity to learn the inner workings of the Sales Department of a
Marketing Agency. The selected candidate will undergo Sales Training, will attend real-world client
meetings, interact and shadow Attack! Marketing Account Executives and work directly with the
Director of Client Services. This opportunity will take all your knowledge and add to it the real world
experiences necessary to progress into a career in sales/marketing. You will have hands-on
experience in the day to day operations at Attack! General Responsibilities but not limited to vetting
sales opportunities and conducting online research and business evaluation. Candidates should be
sales, marketing and/or events focused. Should be great on the computer, internet research, typing,
etc. Should be outgoing, friendly and interested in learning more about relationship building,
prospecting and the world of Event Marketing and Promotions. Able to work 3 to 5 days a week from

UNPAID INTERNSHIPS
 Reveille – Internship Program
Reveille is a leading independent production and distribution company focused on

 simplehuman – Marketing & PR Intern (Summer)


simplehuman, the leading design-based housewares company, is looking for two Marketing & PR
interns. simplehuman was founded in 2000 with the mission to reinvent the trash can. Today the Los
Angeles based company has expanded its vision, to design “tools for efficient living”, to more than
100 patented innovations. The perfect candidate is a self-motivated, multi-tasking pro who likes to hit
the ground running. Basic understanding of PR and social media preferred, but we’re happy to train
the right candidate the ropes. The internship will consist of real work including: media relations,
coordinating our sample review program, event research and coordination, writing editorial and press
materials, commenting on blogs on behalf of the brand and more. Intern will work 15-20 hours in our
main corporate office in Torrance. Although it is unpaid, the internship warrants opportunities for

 California Against Slavery – Intern


Slavery still exists today. 17,000 slaves are sold in the United States each year—70% are female and
50% are children. At the same time, American minors are being exploited as sex slaves in the
pimping industry. Today, a convicted human trafficker can walk free after 3-5 years under California
law. It’s time for justice. Together we can make a difference. California Against Slavery (CAS) is a
grassroots group passionate about stopping human trafficking and modern day slavery. Our
immediate goal is to put an initiative on the November 2010 California General Election Ballot to
strengthen current human trafficking laws and increase victims’ rights. Visit us at

will be responsible for mobilizing his/her community. This includes recruiting team leads,
coordinating petition circulators, and monitoring training and materials for circulators to ensure we
reach our goal of 1M signatures by Spring of 2010. Intern will gain valuable experience in grassroots
mobilization, community organization, political campaigning, and leadership skills. Applicants must
be passionate about stopping human trafficking. Strong written and verbal communication skills,
excellent organizational skills, as well as leadership skills. Ability to work well in a fast paced
environment. Ability to work independently or in a team environment. Responsible, dependable,
reliable and attentive to detail. Political Science, Law or Government major preferred but not
required. Position is approximately 4 months between January and May 2010. Must be available 15-
20 hours each week. (Hours can be flexible, workload may be higher initially.) 23 Internships

FELLOWSHIPS
City Hall Fellows
City Hall Fellows is a non-partisan nonprofit national service corps training the next generation of leaders
for America's cities. Our 12-month, paid, post-college Fellowship integrates hands-on experience
working within the highest levels of local government with intensive training in how cities work. For the
class of 2011, we will be placing cohorts of Fellows in 3 cities: Houston, Texas; San Francisco,
California; Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The Fellowship is open to students of ALL majors. A detailed
overview of the Fellowship, as well as application materials and instructions, are available on our

Class of 2011 are due March 10, 2010. The Fellowship year begins August 2, 2010 and runs through July
29, 2011.
