November 2015

Dear Friend,
Greetings in the wonderful name of our Lord Jesus Christ, from everyone
here at the church. We serve a gracious Savior who loves us and gave Himself for us
all. No one is excluded and none who come to Him by faith are turned aside! It's a
beautiful time of year. Despite all that is happening in the world, we still have much to
be thankful for.
As I was praying for you today a verse of Scripture came to my heart. Paul wrote
these words in Philippians 4:6 & 7, "Be careful for nothing; but in everything by
prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and
minds through Christ Jesus." Isn't it great to know that not only does the Lord grant us
entrance into His throne room but He gives us peace at the same time? We have peace
because we know He hears us, and if He hears us the Bible says we have the petitions
we ask of Him. If I had a great need in my family or among my friends and the
president of the United States told me those words, I would approach him with
thanksgiving and peace, knowing he bid me to come to him. He will take care of it!
How much more when approaching our heavenly Father, the Creator of all things, the
Savior of the world, the One who has the power to calm the troubled seas, who can turn
the darkness into light, and restore my soul? I could have my doubts except for one
thing: Jesus Christ rose from the dead. His resurrection proved that everything He
taught and said was true. If He didn't rise from the dead there would be room for
unbelief to set in. But because He rose far above all principalities and powers, the might
of man and kingdoms, far above every name that is named in this world and that which
is to come, I know He holds the power to help us in times of need! We can cast every
care upon Him because He cares for us.
Many people today are full of care and anxiety. There are too many
circumstances to name here, yet 4 words in Scripture gives us assurance that covers
them all: "Be careful for nothing." The same One who inspired the apostle Paul to
write that backs it up with His presence. He who quickened those words to the writer
pledged to us that He will never desert us (Hebrews 13: 3, "...for He hath said, I will
never leave thee, nor forsake thee."). Knowing this, when I pray, I can approach the
Lord with confidence. Faith tells me that the Lord is there for us and answers.

Sometimes He says, "Yes", sometimes He says, "No", and sometimes He says, "Not
yet." But He does answer us! We know that all things work together for good to those
who love the Lord, to those who are the called according to His purpose. You are not
far from His tender-loving care. You may not be aware of Him sometimes, but He is
certainly aware of you. He loves each of us so much He went to the cross to die for our
sins. How can we measure the depth of love like that?
The verse continues, "...but in everything by prayer and supplication with
thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God." He wouldn't tell us this if
He planned on ignoring us! Did you ever do something for someone who was thankful?
It made you willing to do other things for them. It made you feel like sharing with them
and trusting them and blessing them, right? How about those who weren't thankful? If
we bring something so precious to God as our prayers and supplications for those in
need, He responds to us, mainly because we are thankful. Never underestimate the
power of your prayers! Prayer does change things! It doesn't matter what the doubters
and pouters say: prayer changes things! Your prayers for that lost son or daughter, your
supplications for our country, your longings for a better way of dealing with situations
never goes on deaf ears. God does answer prayers: your prayers! He sees your faith! He
responds to you personally. We cultivate that relationship when we are thankful to Him.
"And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your
hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." I know He has answered my prayers when I
sense the peace of God after I bring my petitions to Him. I can leave that circumstance
with the Lord when I feel His peace. I have been given the assurance He has answered
when He lifts the burden off my shoulders. I may not know how or when, but I know
beyond a shadow of a doubt He will cause a change to come when I experience that
peace that passes all understanding! I do believe God is for us! He loves humanity.
Problems and trials and testings did not originate with Him. He is the solver of every
dilemma known to man. He holds our answers and shares His power with those who
put their trust in Him!
May God bless you abundantly this Thanksgiving season. Our church is praying
for you today and we're believing God with you to meet each need. I invite you to come
to any of our services. We meet at 624 Torringford West Street in Torrington, CT. Our
schedule of services is Sunday at 10 AM and 7 PM, and Wednesday at 7:30 PM. Come
to church with faith in your heart, expecting the Lord to strengthen you and help you,
for He will!
Sincerely,

Rev. Daniel Bossidy
