Pre-Shoot Script
Narrative Focus
The beginning shots: "If you could change one thing about
your body image, what would it be?"

End this extract on a two shot. Two small children naming

what they would change if they were allowed.
Fade to black, title will show.
TITLE "Let's Be Real."
Doors once open, are doors now closed,
Because were all ruled by the size of our clothes.

The women once happy, are now depressed,

Because they cant fit in a little black dress.

Men that are sad, they cannot cry,

Because the media says theyre bodies arent the right size.

Children once innocent, are children now tough,

But even they cant call the medias bluff.

Instead they grow up, they learn to pretend,

But really, were all the same in the end.

Ruled and bored, no chance to break free,

Not even a well done to me.
We live in this world and were all the same,
Positivity can also bring the greatest shame.
Because of this shame, nobody will say,
That they look good, or theyre happy this way.
Lets be real here, just for a second,
Take it back to the war after wed won the second.
Would they still have died, have gave up their lives,
If they knew of a country with only one acceptable size.
Knew of a world where no amount of advice,
Can make children look good, even in their own eyes.
A bride at her wedding day, she turns up to see,
Judges, theyre scoring her two out of three.

Was it the shoes, was it the hair?

Her wedding day turns into despair.

If were so bothered about size, then what about pregnancy,

Or is that normal, just because of celebrities?
Is this world that we live in really so fair,
Is reality TV really all there?

Grades and equality, is it benign,

Because all that matters is our own size.

The calories that others eat,

Doesnt give you the right to judge their seats.

The clothes that we once wore for passion,

Has become nothing more than dead end fashion.

Our teens have anxiety, our children depressed,

Even in bed, we must look our best.

For a picture we took, the filter we put,
Its all over our face, but its one big waste.

I cant stand a world like this,

The silence was bliss, all that is missed.

Decided, determined, reflected,

In a number thats normally protected.

To work out our personalities, we need a detective.

Within our hearts, theres one big space,

No matter the place, no matter the place.
So lets see past the number, past the face,

Focus on the inside, because out here is a disgrace.

This world we live in, its a world of waists and tapes,
Our confidence is lower than life forms in space.

Its all an art, an art of illusion,

Our sizes generating the deepest confusion.
The media tells us, the media says,
But really, really its all in our heads.

Why does it matter, why does it hurt,

Why do we put their opinions first?
Ideology, its in the psychology,
But does it matter if we cant even speak honestly?
Body image is becoming an obsession,
Maybe all we need is a confession,

Were developing into dysmorphics,

The media is distorted,
Its a riddle, ready to be cracked, waiting to be hacked,
Needing to be sacked.

So lets sack it, lets not have it,

Lets put it away,
Because really, we cant let this one stay.

Its not a play when were broken,

A play when were sad,
No words can describe, accept those that are bad.

Were twenty and empty, nineteen and lost,

Were still walking around with the media as boss.

We should be flirting, dating, mating dancing with glee,

All we are now, its not all we can be.
We dont need to care about a stare,
There are really more important things than our hair.
Our friends, our family, social lives too,
Its not decided by the size, were not Cinderellas shoe.

But even that shoe, gives a body image,

The skinny, the mini,
The pretty little blond,

None of this size matters,

Unless youre dating James Bond.

So lets dance with mops, lets dance on the tables,

Lets dance without shoes on, lets dance without labels.
Lets be real, lets just be ourselves,

Please dont merge into everyone else.

This message, I send it to you,

Lets just all stop feeling so blue.
Lets be a new generation,
Who say lets not diet for vacation.
Lets enjoy our curves and embrace our flaws,
Lets be different, sincerely yours.
I say were insane, not just vain.
Inside theres pain, the media needs to be tamed.
I say were insane, bring on the change.
