Product
Description

Sika Formol EX is a chemical release agent for use on both timber and steel
moulds. It is designed and formulated to function as a bondbreaker between

formwork or moulds and freshly placed concrete. Sika Formol EX offers


protection to both steel and timber formwork as it acts as a rust inhibitor and
waterproofer.

Uses

Sika Formol EX can be used with excellent effect on formwork designed to


produce all types of finishes, from fair-faced to textured. Sika Formol EX has
been found to assist in the protection of equipment used in the handling and
placing of concrete.
A thin coating on bowls, barrows, skips, shovels, etc. will make these easier to
clean and protect against corrosion.

Unlimited if stored properly in original, unopened and undamaged packaging in


dry conditions at temperatures between +5C and +40C. Keep away from direct
sunlight.

Application Details

Coverage

Sika Formol EX should be applied at the following stated coverage rates to


obtain a thin and even film over the entire surface of the mould or formwork:
Timber Formwork
~ 1 ltr per 19 m (0.05 ltr/m)
Metal Formwork
~ 1 ltr per 30 m (0.03 ltr/m)

Substrate Preparation

All surfaces to be coated with Sika Formol EX must be clean and free from
grease, dirt and old concrete.

Tools

The optimum method of application is by conventional spray equipment.


However, a brush or roller can also be used.
Any excess liquid remaining on the surface after application should be mopped
off. Allow 1 3 hours to dry before pouring concrete.
Sika Formol EX is supplied ready to use and should not be diluted.

Cleaning of Tools

Clean all tools and application equipment with water immediately after use.
Hardened and/or cured material can only be mechanically removed.

Notes on Application /
Limitations

Treated formwork should not be left exposed to heavy weathering or dust


accumulation for long periods.

New unsealed timber may initially require 2 3 coats of Sika Formol EX.
Only a thin film of the product is required to ensure maximum performance.
Excess application may cause staining.
Sika Formol EX is flammable and should not be used near naked flames.
