6) TASKS.
They are varied, meaningful, entertaining but informative. Among them
we can find:
- Presentation and revision of vocabulary through flashcards.
- Watch a video in Youtube Baby Einstein Baby animals at
www.youtube.com/watch?=AB2CdXVKDWs
- Listening of the teachers explanations while visiting this site:
www.sheppardsoftware.com/content/animals/kidscorner/classification/kc_
classification-reptiles.htm
- Short reading Mom and I (to know more about the animals and their
babies).
- Four corners game: In the playground, there are four labels, one in
each corner. They say: Mammals, Reptiles and Amphibians, Birds and fish.
The teacher shows a picture of an animal and children will have to run and
touch the correct label.
- Pupils mingle the descriptions and the pictures, and they take one. Then
they will have to find the pair.
- They will learn a song about animals.
- Scrabble game.
- Lectura de la Declaracin de los Derechos de los animales (Spanish).
8) TIMING
This DU will be carried out through two weeks. It consists of 8 lessons
and this would be session number 3. Each session is divided into the
following parts: warming up activities, input, practice, reinforcement and
out of class activities.
9) METHODOLOGY
These are the four aspects on which the CLIL Approach is based:
- Autonomous learning.
- Cooperative learning.
- Task-based Approach.
- Learner Centred.
There are also other aspects to bear in mind:
- Students will be in contact with significant communicative and
comprehensible data, which are near to their interests.
- The previous knowledge of the unit will be taken into account.
- Students should learn to learn, they should be provided with
strategies that will allow them to develop autonomous learning.
- We should promote the pupils positive attitude towards the Foreign
Language, towards the peers and themselves, giben the importance of
emotional factors in present-day society.
10) PRODUCT.
The Animal Wallchart: Each pupil will be given a sheet containing an
animal to colour. They will also have to write simple sentences to describe
it. Then they will have to read the description aloud and the rest of
pupils will have to guess. We can also mingle the pictures and the
descriptions and children will have to put them in the correct place
according to their classification (mammal, birds, fish). At the end of
the unit, the wallchart will be hung in the corridor.
