7 th 10 th October 2015, Discover y Hotel Ancol, Jakar ta - INDONESIA

WORKSHOP 1: Osteoporosis
Friday, October 9 (8 am - 5 pm)
Kemang 1 Room, Discovery Hotel - Jakarta
Osteoporosis is a degenerative bone disease,
consequence of many factors that affect bone
cellular regulation. Bone degeneration is not
just about aging process but also reflection
of incompetency of piezoelectrohumeral
pathway in bone tissue. Osteoporosis will
lead to further complication and affected the
quality of life. This one day workshop aims to
provide participants with an evidence-based
clinical reasoning approach to the diagnosis
and management of osteoporosis.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Describe patophysiology and pathomechanic
of osteoporosis
Describe the algorithm of diagnosis of
osteoporosis
Describe indications for performing bone
densitometry, using DXA.
The use of the WHO FRAX algorithm for
fracture risk.
Discuss a strategy for pharmacological
management of osteoporosis, including
options for administration and potential
adverse effects.
Advise patients about adherence to
medications for osteoporosis, guidelines for
taking oral and injection of bisphosphonates.
Discuss
the
importance
of
nonpharmacological approaches in the overall
treatment plan, including the current
recommendations for exercise and orthoses.

WORKSHOP 2: USG Musculoscletal

for Spine, Hip and Peripheral Nerve
Friday, October 9 (8 am - 5 pm)
DCC 2 Room, Discovery Hotel - Jakarta
This workshop will provide dedicated
instruction in musculoskeletal ultrasound
of spine, hip and also peripheral nerve and
will include the unique feature of supervised
hands-on workshop with live models. As we
all know that the use of ultrasound in the
spine, hip and also peripheral nerve is not as
much as the use in other joints of the body,
such as the shoulders. This workshop will give
a different feel from other basic workshop
musculoskeletal ultrasound before.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Oropharyngeal Dysphagia (OD) is a very

frequent condition among stroke, carcinoma
nasopharing, and geriatric patient. There are
several validated methods of screening, and
clinical assessment. Fiberoptic Endoscopic
Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) has become
a globally recognized gold standard for
evaluating oropharyngeal dysphagia and for
assessing swallowing function. OD causes
malnutrition, dehydration, impaired quality
of life, lower respiratory tract infections,
aspiration pneumonia, and poor prognosis,

The International Classification of Functioning,

Disability and Health (ICF) is a framework
for describing and organizing information
on the functioning and disability. It provides
a standard language and a conceptual basis
for the definition and measurement of health
and disability. The ICF was approved for use
by the World Health Assembly in 2001, after
extensive testing across the world involving
people with disabilities and people from a range
of relevant disciplines. The ICF integrates the
major models of disability. It recognizes the
role of environmental factors in the creation of
disability, as well as the relevance of associated
health conditions and their effects.
This workshop will discuss about the role of using
ICF in rehabilitation. Knowing how a disease
affects ones functioning enables better planning
of services, treatment, and rehabilitation for
persons with long-term disabilities or chronic
conditions. The current ICF creates a more
integrated understanding of health forming a
comprehensive profile of an individual instead
of focusing on ones health condition. The
implications of using the ICF include emphasizing
on the strengths of individuals, assisting
individuals in participating more extensively
in society by the use of interventions aimed
at enhancing their abilities, and taking into
consideration the environmental and personal
factors that might hamper ones participation.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES

WORKSHOP GP: Understanding

Immobilitation Problem and Disability

of LBP with its Practical PMR
Management for General Practitioners
Saturday, October 10 (8 am - 12 pm)
Kemang 2 Room, Discovery Hotel - Jakarta
Low back pain (LBP) is a common reason for
patient calls or visits to a primary care clinician..
The history and physical examination usually
provide clues to the rare but potentially serious
causes of LBP, as well as to identify patients at
risk for prolonged recovery.
This workshop will provide general practitioners
with evidence based education to improve
the assessment & management of LBP for the
patients. It will discuss about causes of low back
pain, red flags in LBP, physical examination in
general and also examined from rehabilitation
viewpoint, activity limitation (disability in low
back pain), management for LBP and referral to
PMR specialist if needed.
Physical inactivity and the resultant physical
deconditioning have been hypothesized to
be associated with both the etiology and the
consequence of chronic LBP. The restoration
of function through intensive physical
rehabilitation intervention continues to
form the basis of many rehabilitation-guided
training program. This approach is in part
based on the hypothesis of the deconditioning
syndrome in which deconditioning itself is
seen as a factor contributing to the intolerance
to physical activities and subsequent and
disability in patients with chronic LBP.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Understand the red flags and identify the
appropriate criteria for evidence-based
investigations that is needed for LBP
Understand disability in low back pain
Identify the needs for referrals
