3 ELL children, Punjabi, Hispanic 1 hearing impaired, 2 kids with


ADHD and ADD.
The three ELL kids have been in the US for a while I am not sure
that they need any additional help any more. The student that is
hearing impaired has a hearing aid and sits in the front of the room.

I will use multiple different formats including, worksheet, group


discussion, PowerPoint and a video to keep the ADHD and ADD
students engaged with different activities.

Call on student with hand up. Confirm or deny the answer given
(2 min)
Today we are going to talk about New Zealand and a specific
culture that lives in New Zealand named Maori.
Go to the PowerPoint
Show a map of the area including Australia and New Zealand
Talk about the clip we are going to see and define culture
Talk about history in slides (5 min)
Show the video (2 min)
Talk about the video with students
Ask what seems to be important in this culture?
Answers
Land, Water, strength, dance etc.
Talk about cultural practices
Ask how Maori differ from American culture (11 min)
Handout the worksheet which they can work on in small groups 3-4
students (10 min)
