Class Expectations & Syllabus

Welcome to my class! I am looking forward to helping you all learn, and I want all of you to be successful
this year. In order to be successful, the following rules and policies must be followed by all students.

Grade weighting: 55% - Tests


10% - Assignments
20% - Quizzes
15% - Final Exam

TESTS 50%
Students will be given a practice test/review before each test
Students may retake 3 tests per semester.
If a student choses to retake a test they must follow these instructions:
o Students must complete corrections for the first test in my classroom before school, at
lunch or during PASS.
o All assignments must be turned in for the unit.
o Students must retake the test before the next unit test.
Students will not be allowed to retake a test once they have taken the next unit
test.
o Retakes are scheduled at lunch, after school or during PASS NOT during class.
ASSIGNMENTS 20%
Homework is assigned daily and due the following day at the beginning of class for full credit.
Classwork is also part of this category.
Work must be shown for credit!
I will not accept late work in this category.
Name, date and number must be written on every homework assignment.
QUIZZES 10%
Quizzes will be given approximately once a week.
May be retaken once for full points.
All assignments must be completed to retake a quiz.
FINAL EXAM 15%
Given at the end of each semester is a standardized District Final Exam.

MAKE-UP WORK
You are responsible for making up all missed work due to an absence and should be made up as
soon as possible. You will have only the number of days you missed to make up the
assignment(s). After that it is considered late work.
In your classroom folder you will have a paper that has all work missed and handouts, etc.
attached.
CLASSROOM PROCEDURES:
Be on time to class.
o This includes being in your seat when the bell rings and beginning the warm up for the
day. If you are not following these directions you will be marked tardy.
Upon entering the classroom:
o Look for instructions on the board
o Turn in your homework
o Complete your warm-up
Be respectful
o Raise your hand and talk when appropriate
o Bring needed materials
o Behave appropriately
o Participate in activities
Finish food and drinks before coming to class. No gum allowed in class. Water is allowed,
however other liquids are not allowed.
Pencils are to be used on all tests, quizzes, and homework also recommended for all notes
Stay seated until the bell rings, follow the instructions for cleanup, and wait to be dismissed by
the teacher
Ask permission to leave the room and sign out before leaving. Students will only be allowed 5
passes to leave the room for the semester.
ATTENDANCE AND TARDIES
Attend class each day. Students who have 10 or more absences will receive an F in the course.
(Refer to the WCSD attendance policy for more information)
Be in your seat when the tardy bell rings. You are tardy if you are not in your assigned seat when
the bell rings. Refer to your planner for consequences beginning with the 5th tardy (for all
classes).
You must bring your planner with you to every class every day.
If you are absent for any reason it is your responsibility to make up the work you missed.
Check your folder for missed work, handouts and assignments you have the number of days
you were absent to make up your missed work.
CITIZENSHIP GRADE
Tardies, behavior, participation, turning in assignments, and attitude will determine your citizenship
grade.
When the bell rings, you should be in your seat, ready to learn, working on the warm up.

Cell phones must be turned off and out of sight during class. If out you will be sent to SSO with
an Electronics violation.
Students are expected to behave in class and follow school and classroom rules. Students who
disrupt the learning of others and fail to abide by the rules will be given the following
consequences:
1. Warning
2. Lunch Detention and Parent Contact
3. Referral to SSO and Parent Contact
o This discipline plan will be used for most disruptions. If necessary, I reserve the right
to involve the discipline office at any time.
Make sure that you are abiding by the rules set forth in the student handbook.

ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE
I am available before and after school most days, as well as during lunch to give you additional
help.
PASS classes, on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, are perfect opportunities to come to my
classroom for extra help.
o You MUST have my signature in your planner in order to come to my class on these
days.
SUPPLIES
Composition Book I will provide 1 composition notebook for students, however we will need 2
compositions notebooks for the entire school year. It is the students responsibility to purchase
the second composition notebook. If you lose your composition notebook, it is your
responsibility to buy a replacement and get the pages lost from a classmate.
A binder is not required for this class, there will be a location in the classroom for passed back
papers (assignments, tests, quizzes).
Pencils it is the students responsibility to come to class prepared with pencils each day.
Ruler, Scissors and Yellow Highlighter these items are necessary for this class every day, I will
have a location for students to leave these item in my classroom if they prefer, however it will
be a community location and all students will have access to these items to use.

- Suggestions for Success


Do your own homework; copying does not prepare you for success. Be prepared daily with supplies.
Actively be involved in the lesson. Listen carefully when the teacher is talking. Please do not be afraid to
ask questions or seek help ASAP. I am available for extra help.
